Power windows

I have a 86 4Runner. Front power windows and locks stopped working. Rear power window works. Last time it was a fuse. Now the fuse is fine. Took both circut breakers out - no windows. Put them back in, rear window works. I am thinking there is a switch that controls the front windows and door locks? Or could it be the circut breakers? No way to reset them, there is a hole but nothing happens if you put a tooth pick in it. ideas?

3 Different ones at once? both front windows and door locks not working. seems like something blew. all were working yesterday, stopped working when the window was going down. Was sure it was a fuse but that is swapped. Swapped circut breakers - rear window works but not front. Thinking there is a some type of switch or something else besides the fuse.

Is it just the master switch on the drivers door that stopped working? Does the passenger switch work for the passenger window? Could be as simple as taking apart and cleaning the actual switch and contacts inside. I don't think the front windows are tied into the rear window circuit at all, so one working and the other not has nothing to do with each other, but I could be wrong.

Many, many threads on this if you use the "Google" option under the search function on these forums. After work when I have time I can try to dig up some info.

I called the dealer and the service guy said he has seen the master window switch go bad. You can not order a new one, have not pulled it out yet. But it is both front windows and the power locks - dont see all three getting dirty or gummed up at the same time. Rear window works. Been on several forums - goes up to re soldering some boards. This seems like something blew - last time it was just a fuse. The dealer says there is a window switch, but they cant order it. I do not see one on the fuse box or near it - all are pretty well listed. Is there a window switch for just the front 2 windows and power door locks?

You may want to check this thread, https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...y-where-65468/

From what I've read there is a 'Power Window Module' that may be the culprit since both windows are not functioning.

good luck!

If it were me I'd just start testing things and narrow it down before throwing any parts at it. For example it takes very little work to remove your inner door panels and apply power directly to the window motor connector and confirm your motor is operating properly. Then you can start tracing the wiring directly from the properly working motor to find your issue.

Took the door panel off, unplugged the window control box, cleaned it out and sprayed some silicone on the contacts and buttons and Wa La! Everything works again. Good chance to also lube the motor and hardware in there - window moves faster now.

Congrats on the easy fix. I was having a similar problem that started with the drivers side failing and after fiddling with it both windows would not work. I tried cleaning my master switch but fubared it in the end and was luck to find another one from someone on the T4R forums. Even with the replacement switch they were not working and so after some additional troubleshooting I found a broken wire in the harness at the pinch point on the door along with an open solder joint on he control module. After repairing both, everything is working once again. I will say that soldering that broken wire was a b&I$%^! and was certainly not my best work with a soldering iron...
