Hey All, I just bought this 1997 4runner and the rear window quit working on the third day I had it. The switch in front and the turn key in the back both dont work. I made sure the door was shut tight and the wiper is in it place if that make a difference or not. If anyone can point me in the right direction as far as diagnosis Id appreciate it. I did do a search and found very little on the 3rd gen rear windows. Im thinking its the motor or a relay. Thanks Ray

PS yes I checked the locking button on the door for all the windows. The rest of the windows work fine so wouldnt think it was a fuse but I didnt check the fuse. I dont think one window would have a dedicated fuse.

 

anyone? well i think Im going to open it up and take a looksy

 

Don't have any help for a cause, but there is a 96 wreck in the local yard with the rear intact if you find you need any of those parts.

 

Ok I havnt had time to take the back door apart, but.... Ive been trying the window here and there and it always works in the morning, when its cold outside. weird? At least I know its not the motor. Ray

It has Gen 1 and Gen 2 stuff, not really any Gen 3 but the 2 & 3 might be close. Good luck!
