hey chef, and anyone else with KM2's, how do you like them street driving? I'm trying to convince my dad to get them (on his ford) because when we go camping he wants a bigger tire to better clear the rocks on the dirt road.

my latest adventure was changing this little bugger... my fuel pressure damper decided to stop working, had to leave my baby at school over night...

heres the old one:

here's the new on installed:

What's Up Girl? Well, so far I love them! I think anyone who's been wheeling with us will tell you that they have handled everything that I've thrown at them well. They are definitely quieter than my km1's.... Very friendly on the highway even up to 90 miles an hour.

Did you think about deleting that? There is quite a few write ups on deleting the damper. What did it do when it broke? Just shut off your fuel?

it just leaked heavy, poor mpg, strong smell, and wouldn't hold the fuel pressure so starting took little extra work.. but one we changed it, no more leak and good fuel pressure.

and thats good about the km2s my dad probably doesn't go 90.. but he'll like if its not to noisy

also if anyone wants, I have a TPS replacement problem, just go to my build thread please

As long as you do not encounter snow on the roads, the KM2's will be fine. They are not very good for snowy/icy roads.

I have have a few of the fuel rail dampner's if you need one. I will send it to you for nothing. Let me know.

thank's gizler!, currently my new one is holding out great but case it wants to stop working i'll hit you up for another!

and my dad tries to avoid snow like the plague... he grew up in Michigan, so he moved to CA lol. we only go to the snow usually in the spring when the blizzards and bad storms are done, but i'll tell him to bring the ol' chains just in case

I run my km2s in the snow and I think they do fine. All other driving I've done with them is great.

Maybe they do well since its on a toyota. All I know is that every vehicle I have driven with them, was not so good in the snow. They are just like the grabber red letters I had. Yes they would go in the snow, but not as good as a decent all terrain. Stopping is the issue. Since that type of tire does not have siping designed for heavy road grip in all conditions.

Nice! I love how you can still use the rear window with those ones. I've been on the fence about getting a soft top for a while and if I ever decide I just have to have one it'll definitely be one of those. Other things are definitely higher on the list right now though.

I like the diamond plate headliner in the hard top. Is it rubber? And is that a track system of some type? Ive been turning over ideas of overhead storage.

I'm not sure if you're talking about the roof rack on top of the shell, or inside holding the headliner in? The headliner is closed cell foam that you use in your garage to keep your feet comfortable. Its anti-fatigue mat. The tracks that normally held in the original headliner on the side or just formed aluminum plate that go over the top of the headliner that was in there. I used it to go over the top of this so that it doesn't pull up on the more vulnerable parts, the corners. I still use the poppin vinyl raft and of the original headliner and it goes in the very back under the wiper motor. However, I do now have brackets inside that are holding my roof rack on, & I will be using the bolts the come thru to hold a cargo type of situation inside as well as on top. I'm also using the frontmost ones to mount my CB speaker to.... This is from my last post on my build thread---->

Got a bit more done on the "Zombie Apocalypse Roof Rack and Lights" Project...

Came other SUPER clean and I couldn't be happier! Can't wait to get my lights back up and working. Been missing having the rack as well.

I believe it is the headliner trim. Ive been thinking a cargo net in ceiling with loops for fishing rods. Been meaning to find couple oh s*** handles to put in rear seat locations make mounting points or just use the holes for eyelets or something.

So, I finally got to take my 4Runner out to the dirt this weekend since I bought it a few months back and rebuilt it... lots of work.. paid off!

Even with street/all terrain tires and stock height I am very please with it. I didn't get into any trouble and it pulled me up and out of everything. However, I do need lockers. No serious off-roading can happen without at least a rear locker... anyway, sharing some pics

steep smooth hills are no problem.

limitations

Surprisingly I made it this far. Need bigger tires!

Looking mostly good

I am always very leery of putting anything at head and neck level that could come free, any chance of it coming free. Toyotech has a pretty cool set up with a net and he hooks things to it. More like a cage. Definitely something I would do. I've been thinking about something like stainless drop shelves from Sub Zero refrigerators and things like that.
