Post your GAS MILEAGE!!

Okie check this out
1995 Toyota 4Runner 3.0 3vz
33" big ol' tires of doom
easy-on-the-gas-pedal-mod
*edit* Tires filled to 50 PSI. Max PSI is 65 (should I max them?)
I recently went 253 miles (according to the odometer) on 15.688 gallons of gas. So without my odometer being adjusted that would make the math:
33/28=1.17 (33 inch tires divided by 28 inch tires. 28 is what odo. is set to)
253 x 1.17 = 296.01 (adjusted miles ACTUALLY driven)
296.01 / 15.688 = 18.868 (miles driven divided by gallons o' gas used)
Dude that is almost 19MPG in a 3.slow. More like 3.whoa!
I'm excited, if my math is wrong please tell me. Oh yea, half the tank was highway driving...I just bought my 4runner is it possible the odo. is adjusted somehow that would make my mileage like 16mpg which I would be not-so-excited about

I don't have anything. Like I said. Everything on my rig is stock. I just do the smart things. Keep proper psi in the rubbers. Good oil changes. I'm not heavy on the throttle when leaving a stopped position. Although I'd love to mash it,but these blasted 3.0's have little take off power. especially with the milage I've accumulated. I do 55 on the highways (a proven gas saver). I think that's what helps me the most.

...except for the 31-10.5s, totally stock '89 toy pu 22re AT and 357 K miles 19-21 mpg but i've parked it in favor of a totally stock (except for an American flag propped up from the rear window which is probably creating some drag) '06 corolla getting 35-37 mpg. i'll start driving my truck again when the season changes and 4wd will most likely be required.

Replaced my air filter with a purolator because I am poor right now. Since doing this I gained 1 MPG which brings me to a total of 19.88 MPG! This is my daily driver and my secrets are:
1. Be the master at timing red to green lights (i.e. Always roll up to but don't stop at a red light)
2. Let people honk at you because you take off slow if you do stop.
3. Fifth gear
4. Roll down the windows and enjoy the ride. (Don't run A/C on nice mornings)
5. If you are in a hurry then you should have left earlier

Dood I think that my 4runner came with 31 inch wheels stock. Which means that my calculations are WRONG...when I get off work I am going to check my door I just assumed that it came with 28's and not 31's

Anyone know for sure?

Its the best I have gotten so far...
EDIT: 1992 3.0 with automatic tranny an 31x10.5 TKO Tires...

I had gotten it up to about 22-24 on average. I then changed my driving habits again and started to stay at or below 2200RPM, or at most 55 mph.
last three tanks, 26.7, 27.4, and 27.9 MPG.
On July 4th, the truck was on the way to breaking 28 mpg. About 20 miles from my destination, felt a vibration, the truck smoothed out an continued on. I pulled into town, and the truck would barely idle. I canceled my plans and turned the truck around and headed home 125 miles.
Saturday I pulled the plugs to find the #1 side electrode smashed into the center electrode. Using a flashlight you can see the piston is all dinged up. Without pulling the head or the valve cover, I can only guess a valve dropped or something like that.
The vehicle will not be fixed on my dime if anyone wants to pick it up for cheap. $750.

Okay heres the update on my mpg!
After getting the lift, 33" tires, and lockright I somehow managed to get 17.8mpg. I assume it is a little bit more since the bigger tires, but i am quite amazed that even with the lift and tires i managed to gain about 2mpg's. Anyone care to explain? The only explanation i have is the rpms are lower at cruising speed. Edit, and this is just about the same driving styles too.

Using the GPS 5 or 6 times, with 2 different set of 33x12.5 tires on 100+ mile trips I found that I need to multiply my tripometer by 1.13 to get the correct distance. I average any where from 17-19.5mpg with the 3.0

hey there spokananimal, $3.60 is a deal! try $4.30+ on average in seattle right now.
and to you there mr. 23mpg on the hwy.....really?! really?! i just don't get all you guys claiming anything over 20+, even on the fwy. just don't see it. maybe if u're going 55mph, drafting behind a semi, on small ass overinflated tires, stripped the interior out, throw it into neutral, and any other stoopid "hypermiler" tricks... i just still don't see it. i don't. not in the real world.
i just did a 247 mile trip each way and both times got exactly just a hair under 18mpg. thats all fwy, with a yak cargo box and 3 surfboards (gear and dog) on top on 265/75's. with out any of that and staying off the go pedal...20mpg? maybe, maybe, but doubt it.

Well, im paying $4.51 a gallon, and im getting about 18 city/highway. now with my 33's compaired to my 31's with 16mpg. Weird, not sure how that works exactly, but im not complaining
With all highway i got 22 miles per hour doing like 65
Well is yours auto? I have a 5speed. that makes a difference.

The best weight that I lost in the truck was on the right foot.
Keep you RPM's under 2500..
I started to shift anywhere from 1000-1500 RPM.
Loose the slush box and get a gear box. Nothing will get you mileage better than a manual.
Every 100 lbs of gear you lug around is gonna hurt you. All that crap on your roof, is gonna hurt you.
Just cuz YOU can't do it, doesn't mean others can't.
