Was getting ready for a trip and found out my brakes where hanging up a bit, Changed out the front calipers and then had to replace the master cylinder. The master cylinder was not releasing all the way. Also found the right rear axle seal was leaking. after all of this was fix, my MPG went up by 1.5 mpg. Now around town it is about 19.5 mpg for 1987 extra-cab 4x4 on 31x10.5 with a 22re 5speed.

okay so i just got back from naches for hunting, from my house to whistle and jacks lodge is exactly 100 miles. i left my house with a full tank. when i got to whistle and jacks i filled back up it only let me put it 5.5 gallons... thats 18.1 mpg in my 3.0 5sp with 35's on stock gears... last time i did this i was on 33's stock gears and i could only fit 5 gallons more in the tank. and thats 20mpg....

my motor has rebuilt heads, no cat and a flowmaster with 3 inch pipe. ive messed with afm a bit, is there anything im over looking to why i can only fit 5.5 gallons in my tank. because i feel i should be getting like 14 or 15 mpg

I hit 17mpg's with the 4Runner last week, and that's without any alky injection!

pretty happy with that number after throwing some 14 mpg's.

gas is so inconsistent lately, sucks

95 4RUNNER 3.0 5 speed, I drove 260 on a full tank, so about 14mpg. When I changed the oil and spark plugs one of the plugs was not even the right one.

i found that i had a bad bearing in my front third member probably causing some drag along with the warped rotors on the front. fixed bearing and put manual hubs on when i did the brakes so hopefully some added mileage now.

is there a point to any of those 3 posts above? Or were you trying to be confusing?

I drive like grandma with the trailer attached. Even with 3000lbs being pulled I can snake out about 16MPG. Pure highway I run about 24MPG. This is an awesome improvement over my 89 F250 which averages 8-9MPG and is a PITA to park and drive! I really enjoy driving this truck and am getting ready to sink some money into it to keep it a daily driver instead of spending a few thousand on a car or S10 type truck to be a grocery getter. I love my 87 22r 4x4!!! I once left the stone supplier pulling/carrying nearly 6000lbs!!!!!!!!!

1993, 22R-E, 4x4, 4.10s, 265/75r16s, averaging 21.6

It will come up, I ordered new exhaust from the headers back and intake and spark plugs etc from LCE a couple days ago and plan on boring out the Throttle Body and Intake Manifold and replacing the fuel injectors.

IF at that point I'm not happy with my gas mileage/power I will call up ECGS for some 4.56s, but I may keep it 4.10 for a few tanks to see if the lower rpms are suitable for my long highway trips

Just filled up again today.
Drove 279.2 miles, 297.81 corrected due to tire size
Filled up with 16.075 gallons for a average fuel economy of 18.52 MPG.
85% highway driving, 15% country roads.
3VZE and a 5 speed.

I like to keep everyone updated since I get some of the best fuel economy on here among those with the 3.0L V6.

OK finally filled my truck.

The first half goes forever..

Ignore the fuel cost. It's always wrong. Took 14.41 gallons, $48.00. Comes out to 21.6 mpg per GPS mileage. Odometer w/ incorrect mileage comes out to 19.9 mpg. So far I've gone 60 something miles and it's still on F. Our Durango has gone 80 miles and is under 3/4. And it takes $70.00 to fill. Can't wait to get our 2013 Volkswagen Passat TDI.
