21.2 according to the ODOMETER, 22.1 according to the GPS in the city!

32.9 ODOMETER, and 34.6 GPS Highway!

Im getting my gas gauge fixed as we speak so maybe my readings will be a little more accurate in the future, but using a method of topping off, then driving ~100 miles on the truck odometer and calculating the gallons it takes me to fill up again (using the same pump every time) against the GPS odometer, I'm coming up with a 19 mpg +/- .5 gallons each time.

Seems high to me, so I'm skeptical. 87 4Runner with 300k miles, original engine, 33" tires.

I thought the same thing as to why mine was high with the ODO, but when I verified it with the GPS I was REALLY impressed.

Its 112 miles to Byron, IL from me, and I can go there and back and when I refill the tank it takes a lil less than 7 gallons

15 highway, 12 city I just bought the truck and the only mod is a k&n filter, and some oversized tires. I am going off the old owner cuz he trashed the engine.

3.0 3VZE regularly got 15 mpg in town, maybe 17 highway; just swapped rear ends with a 97 4X4 and put FJ60 springs on it and believe it or not first tank says I got about 18 MPG in town. Haven't taken it anywhere yet. I still have the second tank to go for any kind of comparison, and I was real incredulous, but I did the math a few times and it said 18 mpg.

Just swapped my A340 for an R150 and highway mileage went from 15 to 19 mpg. I think that's pretty good for a 3VZ with 255k miles, 5" lift and 33s.

Thanks. Got quite a bit of power back too...went from crawling grades at 45 to pulling them at 65-70. Never truly hated the A340 until I did the swap.

'94 X-cab 7" lift on brand new 35" Maxxis Bighorns, re-geared to 4.88's, no cats, 2.5" exhaust to 40 series flowmaster, 3.0L V6 w/ 5spd trans...

that being said...if i am going downhill with a tailwind and the tailgate down....

i'm lucky to pull 12-13 mpg. haha

however, have a 3.4L and S/C with URD upgrade kit sitting in my shop that will be going in next month once i recover financially from buying all that!

I hate to tell you, but having the tail gate down will do nothing but decrease gas mileage...
