Play in steering.

95 pickup and I'm just checking on the play in my steering and diagnosing a few rough spots in suspension and what not. Took a video with my truck on a jack and wiggled the tires. It looks like there is a bit of play in the ball joints. Is this normal or do I need new ball joints. If that's what they're even called.

Yeah, your phone is shaking a lot. Other than that, I can't tell anything from the video.

If you're worried about sloppy steering, you should check that. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../3onvehicl.pdf

Good luck!

Yeah sorry bout the movement with the phone. It just seems when I move my tires side to side with it jacked up on both sides, there is like an inch of movement in all those little joints.

Any and all of those points that show substantial movement, are worn out, and should be changed.
