OME suspension?

Anybody have any experience with the complete OME suspensions for '86-89 4Runners?

This is the best price i've found on them so far...
http://www.4by4connection.com/ifsrearleafs.html

Didn't find much searching this forum. A couple mentions of springs and shocks here and there..

At a little over $900 for everything, is this kit a waste of money?

I'm only looking at something that will give me 2-3" of lift with a 31-33" size tire. This rig is only gonna see mild trails, hilly grasslands, sand dunes, and snow. I'm not interested in body lifts or a SAS.

I know there are cheaper ways of getting 2-3" inches with ball joint spacers, and torsion bar cranks.. but I need something that will handle a heavy front and rear bumper.

i have the front set up. That kit as it stands will not give you any front end lift. You will have to crank the torsion bars for lift. If you add BJ spacers you'll be fine. I run them with the OME torsions uncranked to stock, and an ARB bumper. ride is much improved.

Are you using the medium or heavy duty shocks?

Also, what did you do for the rear?

i have heavy duty. They have a slightly longer travel than most other shocks on the market, making them perfect for the spacers.

i have a 3inch spring in the rear, which sucks, and is getting replaced with a custom Alcan pack ASAMA. Also running 1.5" shackles, which will also be replaced with stock. I think the OME set up would be fine for you...just add the BJ spacers to your original plan, and its a really good set up.

Well, I gotta thank you for the recommendation. I PM'ed strap22, and he got me in touch with one of their parts specialists. Got an email quote back:

FR SHOCKS OMEN98 2
REAR LEAFS CS009R 2
REAR SHOCKS OMEN85 N94 2
RE SPR BUSH KIT OMESB6 2
REAR U BOLTS OMEU53 4
RE GREAS SHAKL OMEGS3 1
GREASBL PIN KIT OMEGP3 1

Why, other than the fact that you simply don't know of all the benefits of a bl compared with a suspension lift that apply to your type of wheeling ?

i've got the ome rears (stock front t-bars with bj spacers), they're very nice. about 2-2.5" of lift. great ride on and off road. they're built really well. i love stuff from ome, it always seems overengineered.

I know the pros and cons of a body lift. I've had them before, and i'm just not interested in using them again.

Why ?
Curious minds wish to know.

Because you've had 'em before doesn't mean that you know the advantages.
A lot here don't, judging by the body lift thread that's going on now.

Yeah, BL's are a decent way to gain clearance for tires. I personally can't use one due to bent body mounts in the front, but its not a bad idea. Also curious about why you didn't like yours.

If I did any kind of body lift, it wouldn't be any larger than 1 inch. That way I wouldn't have to deal with shifter extentions, steering extension, fuel filler hose extension, radiator drop brackets, etc... But even then, you still have the unsightly gap, and I don't want to deal with the gaps. I plan to use an ARB or similar bumper, and with the way they mount, it's difficult to flush it up with the body again.

I guess if a guy didn't care so much what it looked like, it would be a no brainer.
