O/D and Check engine light flashing...

well as the title says the over drive and check engine light are flashing. i got in my 4runner (95 4runner 3.0 auto 4x4) after practice and those two lights we flashing. so i turned the engine off and popped the hood everything seems to be fine. my house is a couple of miles away so i just drive it. drives fine except has kinda a lag in the throttle at first then nothing is wrong. also when i floor it the over drive and check engine light would go off. anyone have any idea whats going on? all suggestions are appreciated inlcuding how to turn these lights off.

Lightbulb O/D Off light blinking

Well, let me tell you my story on this. I got my transmission rebuilt, and the O/D Off light started blinking. I looked all over the internet, and got info basically telling me that a solenoid was malfunctioning. So back to the shop I went...and he told me that it wasn't covered in the warranty, and it'd be about $300 for a new one!

I did a little poking around on the truck, because according to the info I was getting, my truck (a 1994 'Yota 4X4) shouldn't be shifting into O/D at all, and it was. What I found was silly - a plug, on the passenger side of the transmission, near the shift linkage, was barely pushed up on the socket. I ran back into my shop and got a zip tie, and secured the plug in the socket.

When I drove it, and still to this day, I have had no O/D Off light.

Here's another goof - my transmission mechanic (well, my EX-mechanic, that is!) forgot to put two bolts back on the bell housing when he did the overhaul. How messed up is that!!!

Later people, hope this tidbit helps!

The SAME problem? Same as what? A good description is pretty essential to get a good answer.

Here's the manual: http://web.archive.org/web/201408161...31diagnosi.pdf Read the codes, and let us know what you find. Don't forget to tell us what vehicle you're talking about (make/model/year/engine/transmission/ ....)

dredging up a 12 year dormant thread may not provide answers from the person queried.
