This post has been super helpful! I just did the no cut mod tonight to my 89 runner with 5 x 11 125# springs. Has anyone had any issues with the spring rubbing on the sidewall of the tire? I have stock wheels and tires and there is about 1.25 inches of space between tire and spring. Reading through everyone's posts it doesn't seem like a problem but I wanted to ask anyway. Thanks for the help and info!

Thank you op!!
I think ima do this route instead of putting 2" rear blocks.
What size would you recommend for my 93 v6 pickup?
I would like a good 2-3" lift

I removed my 4" blocks and zuk'd my rear suspension, but I did the cutting the bump stop version as I don't have access to a good auto wreckers to find jeep springs. Some guys have used Jeep springs, or you can buy them brand new from Black Magic, check the earlier posts, good luck!

Sorry to dig up an old thread but after days of searching I'm finding a lot of info for 4Runners, but very little for pickups. I have a 93 xtra cab with a Leer topper. The truck is sitting on the overloads, there is about 8 inches between the frame rails and leafs and the rear is a little over an inch lower than the front. I installed new leaf springs and it didn't change a thing. I'm going to order a set of 5x11 springs, but not sure if I should get the 125s or 100s. I'm only looking to bring the rear up about 2 inches total (I have no intention of lifting the front). On an xtra cab with a cap would I be better off going with the 125s like most put on their 4Runners? I'm probably over thinking things a bit, but after shelling out almost $300 for leafs with no improvement, I'd like a little assurance before spending even more. Thanks.

I have a 93 dlx too. With a topper. I went with 125lbs rate. That should do the job. Check out my build for pics !!

I have the 125's as well, it rides nice with topper on, but I took it off this winter until I get used to driving with this crazy city traffic.

So I'm almost sold on this mod. Just wondering if a pigtail spring would fit tighter if it fits at all? Also the rubber puck idea, has anyone tried this?

This mod sounds legit since it doesn't require any cutting or welding. But does anyone where I can buy those bottom mounts so that the coils can be more secured at the bottom?

If you use the spring that's 5-inch dia throughout, as in Orig Post (I wish I did), it's not going anywhere. No need to secure it in the bottom. However, I'd suggest getting a urethane "puck" (maybe 1/4 -inch thick) to go between spring and leaf pack U-bolts to prevent metal to metal contact, noise and and wear.

I tow alot and regularly haul 800# in the bed. And I have a salt spreader that goes in the receiver that loaded down wieghs 500+ pounds of pure tongue wieght. Ride quality isnt hugely important. I do offroad lightly but flex isnt very important. Also my drivers side spring has a bit of negative arch and the passenger side is pretty much flat. I was thinking 150# and would like to know if anyone has used springs that strong. Also how does 125# haul with about 800 pounds of 4 wheeler in the bed. Should I use 12" or 13" springs? The vehicle I'm using them on is a 1996 tacoma.

Zuk'd my 86 with some cj springs so glad I don't have that saggy butt syndrome that I see a lotta 1st gens here suffer from. Used bottle jack and spring compressor (o'reilly's is awesome, free tools!). Anyway here is some pics

Offroad: I'm not too hard into offloading although I have kicked up a few pebbles and splattered some mud puddles with these springs on. I'm guessing my leafs are pretty kay'd because the ride isn't the greatest over bumps and crappy roads, but its a truck so I'm fairly happy with this mod.
