new speakers

I had put a set of 4" kickers in my truck a few months ago, well blew them out so I figured I'd do it right this time. I took some time looking and reading and ended up only spending $170! That is including new speakers to replace the blown kickers.
Polk db651's in the doors

Kicker ks400's under the dash

Boston bpt170's

There's a set of crossovers wired up to the tweeters and door speakers, and this setup sounds amazing, I highly reccomend it to anyone.

i am thinking about putting some speakers in the doors of my truck, did you have to cut the door or did they fit right in there?

Nice dude, I slapped some ford speakers I had in my door. They don't sound the best, but they get loud. And I still have provisions for 4" speakers under the dash!

Do you have the dB651 or dB6501 (you mention crossovers).

I've got the dB6501 component set in my daily with a RF 500s amp to them and they sound great.

With any upgraded speakers, I'd recommend throwing a cheap amp in the mix since most speakers take more RMS power than the deck can give them.

I have the db651, I bought the crossovers separate, and I almost hate to put an amp in after all the trouble I just went through tucking my wiring in place. But then I could run the tweeter's and 4 in. on the crossovers because theres still a little distortion through the kicker's. Where i put the speakers in the door I had to knock off about 1/4"x1" piece of sheet metal on the door, that was it.

If someone is looking at tweeters, I screwed up and put them at the wrong spot, now my dash piece won't fit back in. So when I put my other windows in they will get moved in the door also, I think you will be able to hear them better like that.

normally i would put tweeters up high on the door or on the pillar. However since you already placed them center I would suggest putting an amp in and wiring the center tweeters to an adjustable L-pad and using it as center channel. You can really fine tune the imaging like that. Also duct taping the snot out of those 4"s will help so no air leaks between the front and back of the speaker.

I did this. Lot of cutting and homemade spacers.
