mercury villager electric fan swap

^^^i have, but I'm not sure which route to take...
1. Rebuilt High OutPut OEM...$180-$300 reliability isn't as high as the OEM Denso
2. 92-96 3vz Camry Denso 80amp $130-$150...OEM reliability, JY available(for fitting purposes)
3. GM 12-10si common, bit of work to fit it, reliability unknown...JY available(for fitting purposes)
so this is what i have gathered just from reading threads between here and pirate.
I'd honestly like to put some type of OEM alternator in so i don't have to bother messing with a wire harness(will be upgrading the big three or is it 4 now?) or struggling for room, or messing with the bracket. Just trying to find the path of cheapest/reliable resistance...if there is such a thing. Plus, if i use an off the shelf alternator i don't have to worry about finding a replacement if it breaks/dies while out on the road or preparing for a trip...granted it would probably be a few years before a HO model would die...i guess.

The camry amp is a common-ish mod but you need to change the pully from the Camry serpentine to the truck V belt pully... the V belt pully sits on a thinner shaft stock so you need to bore it out a bit on a lathe or drill press (carefully) to fit the camry alt. There are a few threads here on doing the mod...

It's around here some place I've seen it just don't ask me where... try searching for Camry Alt. mod or 3VZE alt. mod.
some times it works better to do a google search from out side the forum... just add Yotatech to the search box and it should limit the results to here...

it's running cold/ not getting to operating temp unless i let it idle....and as soon as i start driving it drops down

FYI
If you want a cheaper and simpler route for a fan switch, in replacement of a Hayden set up. You can start with an OEM honda fan switch bolted in place of the freeze plug drain.

Its working great for me so far

to all friends doing the efan.
make sure that when you take off the radiator take a few minutes to check what kind of thermostat is using the engine and the condition.if using an aftermarket oil cooler for the tranny maybe the efan can cause overcool and it will have shifting problems and finally burp the cooling system failing to do so will cuase engine overheat,if your going to use the downhill method it will take a while, the other method is the heater line t.

I rhink the concern is making sure the switch activates at an appropriate temp. and stays on long enough to do the job without over cycling ie on/off/on/off or overcooling the engine... that and of course how long it stays working... but if it is a Honda part it's probably (almost) as good as a yota part.

I have had no problems with the thermo switch, my Autometer gauge sensor is on the upper radiator tube, and the switch is on the block.
Fan turns on at around 200 to 210, and stays on for awhile. While driving I don't see the temps drop any lower then 175 or so.
Its been great to not have to watch the gauge and think about it.

thanx to all of you guys for the insight, help, and the trial and error!
this is a mod i need to do also!
as far as alternators, for those on a budget- our local pull-a-part gets lotsa lexus vehicles. for less than $20 i got a 130A alternator off a es300... not sure of year (96?) i just needed to go to a shorter serpentine belt. direct bolt in. same wiring.

hey guys, i did the mercury villager swap a while back and this fan kicks ass! but my engine hits it when i get on the gas. i now have a 3.4 but even with my 3.0 it hit pretty bad. did anyone else have this problem because i dont want to et rid of it, it just cools sooooooo well! way better than my flax-a-lite black magic which still did a very good job by the way!
