MAF Conversion Mod 3.0 3vze

Ok, this issue was brought up several months ago and then it got put on hold by the designers due to increased work load.
Well its time to move it to the front burner if there is enough interest. Custom Performance Engineering is ready to start the R&D phase of this project if there are at least 15 people interested up front. If after the R&D phase this mod doesn't create any worth wild gains it will not be produced. So don’t worry about committing only to find out it produces no gains in HP. There is another thread to goes into a lot of detail about the MAF conversion it can be found HERE .

CPE expects around a 25-35 HP gain at the wheels. They estimate the total cost to be $560-$690. I know this is steep for some of you but the will be using quality parts and electronics and it will be designed specifically for our trucks.

I'm no good at all the technical lingo but post your questions and I will get you an answer.

mike

I have a 93 3.0.

If I could see a dyno trace showing at least 25 hp , I would be interested.

$500 to $550 should be cool, $700 is going to be a hard sell though. I am located in Richmond VA so probably can visit the guys direct if needed.

Well Mike you beat me to making this thread but i'll add to it from what i was just told by CPE...

Expected Horsepower at the wheels:
20-30

What you'll get:
3.5" T-6061 mandrel bent powder coated intake pipe, genuine Toyota MAF sensor, aFe high flow air filter, 3ply high temp silicone hoses, and if needed- a pipe holder/heat shield. Each unit will come with a preset base map.

They are willing to make this kit if they get 10-15 people that are seriously interested. All you have to do is post that you are. This will bea simple bolt-on modification which are 3.slows are in dire need of!

I'll do R&D for you guys. I have a '91 4Runner. I'd be happy to be a "beta tester".

They will run a DYNO (in shop) before and after the proto-type. If the gains are positive they will continue with the project if the intrest is there. Once the final product is installed on my truck they will send it out to a certified DYNO for an unbias run.

Rocket is right they did say 10-15 people at first but later told me they need closer to the 15 mark. When they order the finished pipes the have to order 30, so 15 is their halfway point.

It is being designed for the 3.0, V6 so it should work. Unless under your hood is different than my 93 4runner 3.0 V6

If this goes to production it will produce at least 25-35HP at the wheels.

A Dyno will be posted for all to review if it goes to production.

I'm not positive but I think that if this works it will be Jan before the final product is ready. Just in time to spend your tax return.

btw - can you do multiple before and after camparisons onthe dyno? this will establish a nice average gain as well as extremes, both high and low
