For those numbers in gain, I would buy one if it was around $500, but I would also like to see Dyno numbers... Please let me know if you need a proto tester, but I'll need a little time to get that money, it's tough bein a student.

Is this thing going to continue to be vaporware for another year? We have been gathering intrest or whatever (from the first post) For 4 months now.

As an engineer, I hate gant charts but they do come in handy...

On 6 Oct I emailed CPE and told them we had 15 people. I sent them a link to this thread and invited them to put something together for a post here.

I will follow up with them tomorrow

Did anyone mention what this would do to gas mileage? I would be interested after I see that it is actually going to make the power claimed, like everyone else and if doesn't totally kill my mileage, its bad enough as it is haha

A lot of you are saying your interested but only after "pending dyno tests, results, gains, charts, numbers, etc. but ALL of that is completely irrelevant.

Here are the facts for everyone...

The MAF conversion WILL have pre-verified results from a DynoJet dynamometer. It will only be produced and sold if the results are successful and correspond with the price. The "numbers" will be shown beforehand.

This thread is for people that are interested in paying $560-$690 for gains of 20-30 wheel HP. If the gains are less, then the price will be less but only if CPE decides to go forward with production. After talking with them, i think $500 is realistic but thats entirely my assumption. IMO any significant gains are far worth that amount considering theres nothing on the market that can provide more than 2-4 HP.

Example: The K&N FIPK kit for $230+ claims 3.32 HP @ 4405 RPMs but how often are you running your motor at 4405 rpms?? That means @ 2405 RPMs your probably gaining around 1.32 HP or less! Total waste of money.

Once again, the dyno results will be posted and all CPE wants are people that are interested in purchasing their conversion at the pre-given price and numbers of 20-30 HP.

Keep in mind the company are professionals at what they do. For them to take on a 3.0 will possibly be the best thing to ever happen for are Yota engines.

Post if your interested in this conversion.

What will this do to the reliabilty of the 3.slow? will it effectively shorten the life span by working the engine harder. I'm all for more power and am interested, but if it strains the block.head too much is it worth it?

Unless otherwise noted everyones interest is pending Dyno results and final price estimate.

I just got the following email fom CPE

"We are swamped right now but we will at least get your car in here to see if it makes power. We hope to be able to do something by the middle of novemebr. We have two really big conventions between now and then. One of them being SEMA show in las vegas, so I will be running around like a mad man. Thanks again and please forward me your phone number one more time. Thanks again!"

I will call them and set up an appt to "see if it makes power"

If it makes a 20-30 hp gain and costs under 600, I will buy one hands down.

I would love to have closer to the power of a 3.4 (since I can't afford a conversion yet.)

Just curious, are you taking any preparatory measures to insure that you're providing them with quality specimen of the 3.slow? Any recent compression/leakdown tests, sensor response time tests, etc. etc.?

I have owned my truck since April 05. I have had the headgasket, EGR, injectors, timing belt, water pump, new plugs with wires, cap and roter, fuel filter and radiator with hoses, trans drian and filter, O2 sensor and TPS replaced. Also had the steering recall done and added a K&N drop in and trans cooler.

But no I have not had a compression check done all I know is she runs strong and pulls hard without problems. Hoping to get with them this weekend to test it out this will give me time to pull my plugs and check them out again.

If there is anyone near me that has the stuff to do a compression check let me know and we can hook up if you want.

axon,

I didn't mean to come off being offensive, no disrespect intended. Knowing that most of these motors are approaching 150-200k+ miles doesn't exactly make them the best candidates for a baseline dyno pull. It sounds as if yours has been cared for though which is definately promising. A compression test prior to the dyno run would definately be in order, but I would also like to suggest a leakdown test either opposed to or in conjunction with the compression test.

The leakdown test will provide much more valuable information. If you're intersted I can post a write-up on a DIY leak tester than I've been cobling together that can be made for about $40ish and will give almost instant feedback on the condition of each cylinder including piston ring seal, intake and exhaust valve/seat condition and headgasket condition (it works or it doesn't). Best of all it works with any cars/trucks that take a 14mm or 18mm spark plug, meaning it's a useful diagnostic tool worth having around. If interested let me know and I'll try and get a post up.
