Little buddy's been sittin'....

Well, as a result from my messed up back and a surgery, I've been unable to work on my truck...leaking T-case, some shimmy under acceleration, shot U-joints, leaking steering box(just keep toppin' it), a "ping" under intial load (center bearing?), 'grinding' 4x4 from front end(I've concluded that it might be the steering spindle bushings all dried up), clogged cat (got a new one waiting to be installed). I haven't been driving it the past month....it's sad and I just look at it and say "Sorry buddy, you're just gonna have to wait". Is there anything I should be concerned about while it's just sitting there other than flat spots on tires and cranking the engine over once a week? Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

depends how long it will be "just sittin' there"... rust is always an issue if it's going to be a long long time same as cracked, dried out tires, stale fuel...
hope you feel better Aviator

It won't be moving for at least another month unless I can convince my girlfriend to do some of the work....I'd say 3 months tops.

3 months? Your gas is probably going to get a bit old and possibly flat spots in your tires. Can you get one of your buddies to drive it around once or twice a week? That's really all the more I drive my truck (it's my 2nd vehicle) and it's been doing fine the 2+ years I've had it.

I can get my girlfriend to drive it around but I'm just worried that stuff is starting to go...especially worried if the T-case is all dry...she's going to check the level of it at least for now. The shimmy and other things aren't as much an issue if it's for short trips but I'd rather let it sit before anymore damage is done. Oh ya, how long is gas good for on avg....I guess the 10L in my gerry can from January is no good eh?

I have had gas sit for over a year and a half in a old jeep j10 I had and the truck still turned over and the ford f150 I had sat for this last year and it had a full tank when I parked it and I started it once a week and let it run for 10 to 15 min it finally ran out of gas the day I sold it had to add two gallons to it to get it to start up and pull it on the trailer if it is going to sit and not run add some fuel stabilizer to the gas.
