I am amazed!!!
This morning my 3 cats (they watch and listen as I bitch and complain) and I installed a LC header on my 22re. The install went really well. I had a few issues at the start and I called LC to get some advice. I wanted to know if it was better to remove the old studs and replace with the new LC studs. John at LC said it is always better to start with new studs and to torque them (long thread size first) at 10lbs. After getting all the gasket mess off, bolts broken and guard plates off I put the header in. It pretty much matched right up. I had to remove the plate on the tranny that held the old down pipe in place. Once the head was on and the nuts torqued to 33ftlbs all was good. I got in and fired it up. I was amazed at the sound of that thing... very smooth and almost a little mean. I drove it up the hill from my house and I was amazed I didnt have to down shift. THere is a considerable power difference. I am very happy with this header and the process of install was not bad at all.

 

Im going to second you on that. Got mine in today and i was very pleased with the result.

I can see them telling you to go with there expensive new studs and am surprised they told you the right instructions on how to install them.

You should post up some pics and milage gains if any

i call them Lce http://www.lcengineering.com/ i had one on my 22re real nice header

 

Im using the same LC header on my second rebuilt runs like new on the same gaskets.No leaks or issues.

 

what did you put behind the new header? i've been thinking of upgrading to the LCE header, but kinda wanted to keep the rest of my stock exhaust until a later date.

 

On my 1985 22RE I put one of their headers. It was the wrong one and didn't fit at first so I got the other one which was a good fit except almost touches my radiator hose pipe. My main concern and maybe some of you can comment on is whether the header with the O2 sensor back by the cat always throws a code 5 when I idle at 2500 for more than 2 minutes. Anyone who has this problem please let me know. Thanks

 

Ive had my LC header for over three years. The header itself fit great, but the collector was a whole other story. I had to chop it all up and reweld it together. Behind that i have the stock cat and a 2.25" cat back with a 2 chamber Flowmaster. I get compliments on the sound all the time.

 

Any idea if this helps low end torque or just high end power?
