Last chance to talk me out of puchasing a new engine!

I'll be selling a snowmobile I have in the next couple days, and I've finally settled on an Orient engine for my 89 4Runner with the 22re engine.

I really wanted a Jasper, but hate to spend that much money on an engine. Will I have any regrets for not buying the Jasper?

My 4runner has zero rust and doesn't get driven in the snow and salt.

Last comments before I take the plunge? Thanks.

How much better is the Jasper engine vs. the Orient engine? Is the Jasper worth the extra 900 bucks or so?

22re

I don't have a reputation yet, or a warranty, but i'll sell you a performance rebuild for $1400.00 No core charge

I've done 4 engines, all but 1 run fine still, and that was because he had a cooling leak and kept pushing it hard on a hot day.

Current one, no miles yet, bored .30 over, .30 over forged pistons/ moly rings, ported/ polished head, 261c cam, new crank, oil pump, water pump, gaskets, timing chain, etc. Custom painted valve cover...ignore the passenger-side York compressor and extra alternator in the pic...It's a 22R but use your intake and knock sensor and it's a 22RE.

I have an ad in a Peoria, Illinois-area classifieds magazine...
Toyota 4x4 Broken? Experienced mechanic & fabricator. Rebuilt frames, engines. Custom bumpers, beds, lifts, tire carriers, racks, etc. Reasonable prices. 309/202-1682 Pekin.

PS...Nice, clean 4Runner...i've got a customer's '84 in the garage, and it is Rough...i sanded off the paint and instead of metal it's mostly rust and rotten bondo...

I appreciate the offer on the engine, however, I'm going to stick with a big name company for warranty purposes. Sounds like a great engine, though!!

How much better is the Jasper vs. the Orient engine? There must be some significant difference in motors for that kind of money difference. Thanks.

We have not had the greatest luck w/ Jasper. I say go w/ the Orient for $800 less.

Any chance you can offer some more detail on this? Thanks.

Background: I run a full service repair shop. We have been installing Jasper products for yrs, but recently have had several "come-backs" on their engines and transmissions. It has always worked out for the customer in then end, but they DO NOT want to backup their warranty.

Several years ago I got a JDM engine from Midwest Engine in Cleveland, OH and got excellent service out of it.- Just for another option...
