I'm IN NO WAY a "Paint Shop" pro...heck, I'm not even intermediate... but I know that if you can come up with a template like this, Vista and others will print it out...CHEAP! Problem is, ...well, they usually do 100'S at a time... so I'd have to look into a 'Bumper Sticker Template Paper" for my own printer at home. It's a really good one. I'd rather do one that's 'cut out' like my yotatech sticker... but I have no idea where to look for whom makes those. I think Scuba might know... I'll drop him a PM, lol.

The shocks don't top out at all! The only thing I've noticed is that the right side spring is a little noisy when I turn hard right. When I heated and bent the bump stop, I opened it to exactly 3.5" on the right, which was a pretty tight squeeze. On the left I bent a little more, maybe 3.6", and the spring slipped right in. I assume the noise is due to the tighter squeeze on the right. Not a big deal, just a little annoying.

 

My 90 pickup has a really heavy old leer camper shell on it, probably been on since 1990. I just want to level out the rear without having to do anything to the front end. I'm running 235/75/15 goodyear's and don't plan on ever lifting it. Should I go with the 12" 125 lb. springs?

 

I did the 14" x 100# on my 1984 pickup. It has had a Leer canopy on it for many, many years. The springs leveled it out nicely, and I think the 14" is more appropriate for the pickup. You might want go with the 14" x 125# since you've got the camper shell.

 

Couldn't go too crazy on my trip to the Sierras, due to both my lower ball joints being TOAST, lol.... But, the Zuk's performed FLAWLESSLY and handled several hundred pounds of gear and still allowed me flex and spring back in my springs, so to speak. .....

 

I just measured the distance from rim to fender with and it's about 13". But that is parked on an incline, don't know if that matters. I don't want too much rake, if any, so I'm thinking the 12" 125 lb. may be the way to go. I can snap some pics in the morning if it helps. My springs are definitely worn out and almost flat for sure.

Maybe mine measures 13" from the top of the rim to the fender well because I have 235's and you have 31's Chef? Either way, it still sags pretty bad, just not too sure I want to go with the taller springs. I'm leaning towards the 12" 125, just looking for some reassurance before I take the plunge so to speak

I'd get the black magic springs - 14", and 100 or 125 lbs. Most guys who have 4runners use the 125 lbs due to the heavier shell, but it depends on what you carry in the bed....

I did the 14" 100lb coils on my 86 with an old and very heavy Camper shell on it. Worked out very well although I did end up adding 1.5" BJ spacers to the front to level it out. In your case I'd go with 12" 100lb springs.

Glad to see you guys are giving this mod a shot. You have the Runner, Junker, and that means you have less distance from underside of frame to leafpack....."MilesToEmpty" has a pick-up and they have about 2" more space between frame and leafpack so I would say do the 14" x 100 pounders and if it rakes too much then simply cut 2" off the coils for about 1" less in lift. Bilsteins are a wonderful shock. They are a regressive damping shock(the opposite of most shocks) and basically give the soft ride with excellent rebound control of the leafs. Used on race cars also. They are pricey too.

ps---best to cut the upper frame mount really short like Duckie did here https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f120...thread-208532/ The coil slip s in with no further stretching and no coil noises when they cycle.

Just to clarify the 86 I has was an extended cab pickup. It worked so well that I also did this mod to my 89 4runner.

 

My boy has an '87 Runner (black) and LUVS yer rig!! I'm a pickup guy but that's a nice little rig in my view as well!!

 

Sorry Junker- I didn't read it very well. Maybe the 12" x 125 is the best then (there are no 12"x100 pounders available).
