Thanks, and I have a new pic since the light bar from downey leftover site and 8" DC's that I wired in with a relay and nice switch, etc.....

I'll be refreshing the front end with brand new OEM Lower BJ's, Brand new Mega Travel Upper BJ's, OMEmu Shocks and Stabilizer, 4Crawler.com 1.5" BJ Spacers, New Bushings, Possibly Hiemed Tie Rod ends, hopefully an Idler Arm support Brace asap as well(place I want it from is out of stock). Can't wait to get it level again and get a lil clearance, ...but mainly, HAVE A FRESH IFS to cush AND wheel around with, lol.

Great to see some others getting these. Can't wait to see pics of that black xtra cab with some lift goodies on it! NICE RIG!

Happy New Year Guys, and thanks, Zuk, very much, for chiming in!

Hey Miles, shocks for all 4? Or just the rear? Maybe some Bil's, OME's or Rancho 9000XL with on board remote? lol..... This is a tricky one, Miles.... I've been debating for weeks with myself, while waiting for the rest of my IFS parts to arrive or be manufactured, lol. Looks like I'm going with OME's made for 2" lift on the front, probably something else on the rear. Best of luck on your plans,

Mark

I have been impressed with Bilstein.....here's a link. You have to measure the resting length between mounting points after you lift it with the coils.....or perhaps figure in 3" of lift and measure what you have right now.

Hmm... Im really not sure what I want for the shocks lol.

I did place my order for 2 12" springs though. Should arrive early next week.

Will a normal spring compressor work for compressing the coils? I have a set of these:

Don't need the compressor. use a bottle jack between the frame and spring to widen the gap and slip the coils in there....while truck is supported on jack stands of course.
my diy has lots of photos....

Just threw 14 inch 150lb springs in. Only difficult part was taking a engineer's hammer to the freshly cut frame bump stop things. Now I just have to add an inch to the front via torsion springs, figure out what brake is causing me to pull to the left, and figure out if I need to readjust valves or mess with a head gasket.

No engineer hammer needed if the upper steel stopper is cut short like Duckie did here (due to taper effect) http://gearinstalls.com/duckie.htm

And, no coil compressor should ever be needed if that is done, too. I helped 3 or 4 guys locally here put 12inch and 14 inch coils in and never had to use compressors....sometimes, I dis-connected the lower shock mounts to let the packs drop more.....and sometimes even took the rear shackles off to let the packs really drop. Sometimes, I removed the rubber portion and shoved it inside the coil....other end of the coil got shoved in the bracket under the frame and then I could much more easily leverage the bottom of the coil/rubber mount over the leafpack bolt with relative ease.

Post plenty of pics!

Pre mod

Those photos are a little deceptive due to the angle of the camera. Here is a better view, post modification.

I chose to keep most of the stopper, rational being more lateral support for the spring is good. I also flaired out the cut ends a wee bit to prevent binding, using the engineer's hammer and an angle grinder.

Nice....looks like a good 4" lift. To me, it looks to have good balance above the front and rear tires....about the same amount of air. Rear is a litle higher and that's the way I would like my Runner.

Thanks. Thanks for having the "how to" on your website!

You think it'll jump up much higher without the topper installed? That is concern for summer time.

I think mine moved about 1/2 an inch on my 89 so yours shouldn't go up very much at all.

edit: I went with 14" 125lb coils so you're going to have a little more movement than I did when you pull the top off.

Like Junker says...not much

.....thinking out loud-150 in/lb plus about 100 inch/lb contribution from barely loaded leafs adds to 250 total in/lb....add both sides and thats 500 in/lb.....topper weighs 250.....take it off and so I'd say about 1/2" rise.

By the way Barrelroll....the "sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net" pics show up just fine but the facebook pics don't. Got any from the spare tire point of view?

ZUK mod the Old Honda racer way..

I was finally tired of the sagging rear end, and have only heard good things about the the ZUK mod so I thought I would have a go at it. Especially since I have 6 different springs in my garage from the Honda years...

The winner is Intrax Acura TL Type S springs

Nice things about the springs is that it fit right over the upper bump stop

They also fit directly over the bottom bump stop!

Success!
