Looks good, Barrel.....I wonder if you need to extend the brake proportion rod up about 4" with a simple piece of steel flat stock?

Outsane- The lavender is NICE. Does a lift get any easier than that ?

coils,bj spacers, torsion bars

Rad thread! next weekend i plan on doing the zuk mod with the 12inch 125lb coils. I'm also doing 1.5 bj spacers in the front as well as puttin in larger torsion bars. My question is, Im new to moding, will it be easier or make more sense to install the BJ spacers when the torsion bars are completely removed.
thanks for any advice.

with the t-bar removed the upper control arms are unloaded so the whole process should be a bit easier especially during reassembly. basically you might as well do it with the t-bar out if youre switching them anyways.

Hey Mark-
Im in Eagle Rock near the where the 2 meets the 134.
Im actually heading up to my parents house in Santa Barbara this coming weekend to to throw the coils, bj spacers, and torsion bars on. I have no tools here LA. I need to work on that. ha. You ever hit any trails in the LA area? Oh and the name is Jason for future reference.

Hey Jason, sweet! I used to live on Piedmont, right off the 210/La Crescenta Ave. Exit. Bout a block from that 7-11! lol. Loved it there, cuz I hit the trails up in the Lower and Upper Tujunga all the time. I also take the 2HWY to the Palmdale Turn off and head down the back side to Mt. Emma Rd., over to Fort Tehon Rd, then up Big Rock Creek Rd., where I wheel and camp, etc., at times. Found some pretty private and interesting THICK wooded spots up there, creeks running through, watering holes, ...very nice!

Wish I could come help up in SB,.....just can't get that far in the next week or so. I might've been able to lend a hand in Eagle Rock, not sure on that, either, but soon, if you're in a bind, I might just be able to work something out.

Sorry for the thread tangent...but it's my thread, so forgive me guys, k? lol.

PS> Just to throw a weak attempt at "on topic talk" in here.... "Hey Jason, you gonna do the Zuk Mod or what?" hahaha.

chefYota4x4- Here's a re-post pic of your 12"x125 coil lift from page 1. By the way, I'm amazed how many views your thread has had here....over 8000 so far. There is one thing that myself and others are curious about....and that is will the coil fall out if the wheel is flexed for maximum drop....especially with the shorter 12 inch coils?
You have stock leafpacks/stock shackles/longer Rancho shocks.....so if you crossed up that sweet, red Runner diagonally in a drainage ditch with a rear wheel coming off the ground, would the coil still be tight or maybe slightly loose? Or really loose? thanks ZUK

Oh, Ok, ...I hear ya, Zuk.

Well, when I had my tires done, I had it up on a rack and noticed it was leaving a small space between the frame and top of spring. I'm sure that's not quite the same as fully stuffed on one side and drooped out on the other. I'll try my best to get you an answer asap, buddy!

Thanks for checking in, Zuk, and look forward to giving you an answer asap. BTW, I might end up going with the 14"x100# coils once I get my front BJ spacers, new BJ's, etc. etc., etc., all in. Depends on how level it is,....or not, haha. They're reasonable enough that, well, I wouldn't mind a tiny bit of rake while eliminating any risk of the springs poppin out. BUTTTTTTTTTTTT, ....from what I could see, they were still in there good'n'plenty when the axle was fully dropping in the shop up on the rack on the frame. I'll test the other way, too.

I have a very similar setup as above except i went with the 150lb springs. When I installed them I actually broke one of the bumpstops, So for now I just heated the corners of the upper and bent them in to the spring to hold it tight. At full flex even without the bottom bumpstop the spring is not going anywhere.

Did the Zuk mod this last weekend. Man I wish i had done it earlier. I used the 12" 125lbs with the top bump stops cut short. Seems good so far. Also installed some 1.5" BJ spacers and some Ironman torsion bars. Ill start a thread with picts when i get a chance.

Almost sounds like the 14" x 100 would have enhanced your ride even more. A little higher in the rear with a little softer ride yet. Of course, you always have that option to do that in the future

Looking forward to pics. You can start a thread....or I bet it's a-ok to add them here if you choose.
ZUK

ps-- You cut the upper mount short....did the coil drop in nicely? A good fit? or did it require some hammer taps to open it up any?

I did this in Sept of last year and today the springs started making a bunch of noise going over bumps and stuff at a slow speed, anything I can do to fix this?
