Angry Its cold out and my car will not start. Help!!!

today i was getting ready to go to school so i go to my car to start it and it had trouble starting this morning but it started and maybe idled for about 5 seconds and then just died. I tried starting it again but nothing, it cranks but will not start. I tried some starting fluid but that did not help. it was so cold out today so maybe thats why its not starting cause i tried my moms car and her car did not start. What can i do to make my car start?

I Assume you have tried the simple stuff like pumping the gas before you crank it, holding the pedal down as you crank it, etc?

Where abouts in Summit County do you live? It might be a good idea to invest in a block heater as I know my car barely started this morning and I'm in Denver.

You might try the fuel pump test jumper:

That will make sure the fuel pump stays running in case it is dropping out on you.

if his mom's car wouldn't start either it will be due to the cold. you just need to warm the car up & try again

block heater helps (if u have one)...and try putting some gasline antifreeze in your tank....you may have condensation or water in your fuel and it froze in the fuel lines?...thats why it may have started with the fuel left in the engine but died because it wasn't getting fed any more fuel?

happened to me before...just my guess though.

I tried starter fluid did not really help. I however noticed i have little oil. Does anyone think that might be the problem?

check to make sure your cold start injector is operational and working correctly.

I have to check mine as well...anything below 40 and she stumbles at start up...give her some gas and she wakes up and purrs like a kitten.

Also check out your VAFM - there is a trace in there responsible for giving power to the fuel pump. If that trace is slightly corroded you may be getting only weak voltage at startup to the fuel pump

I will 2nd that it may be water in the fuel lines. You can get additives to solve that. Also, it doesn't really sound like it would be, but maybe a poor alternator? The only reason I say this is because a buddy I work with has a Ford that had a lot of trouble starting when it was cold. It turned out to be an alternator, and he had a new battery. Kinda weird, but just thought I'd mention it.

Well got my car started today. I took of my spark plugs and found they were soaked in gasoline. So i replaced the old spark plugs and put in some new ones and it started.

Summit County was a respectfully cold -15F that night. Next time wait until about 2pm when it warms up 40 degrees.

Na really, if a person uses 0w-30 synthetic oil, block heater, inline core heater, oil pan heater, and battery blanket, your vehicle will start right up at -100 F.
