intermitant and hard starting

92 toyota truck. originally wouldn't start so had a garage "fix it". new starter. started normally for a month then did same thing. got a new battery.back to mechanic, wouldn't screw up for him. two weeks later screwed up. this time I turned key off and on to start many times and it would sound like it didn't have enough power slow crank to stop in seconds. started acting up again- would start normally sometimes, or might turn over slow and stop, or just click (relay?), or almost turn over, or would have zero reaction on key turn, or turn over fast. now every morning it has the problem again. thought maybe when cold but also did it right after warmed up. I refreshed all the fuses and relay connections. so far it actually starts every time after going through all the symptoms and sometimes I have to give it gas to get it going and it ends up running rough for a minute or 2 any ideas?

And the shop did not test your battery?
That's what many shops do, replace with parts that do not fix the problem and charge you for their wrong diagnosis (see signature). Had you come to Yotatech earlier, we would have dissuaded you from replacing that good starter.

might turn over slow and stop...
or just click (relay?) ...
almost turn over...
would have zero reaction on key turn...

IDEAS:
1) Have battery and alternator tested. Weak battery, straining alternator could make it run rough.
2) Check all, absolutely all connections, REPEAT: ALL - NOT JUST THE CLICHED CHECK GROUNDS - between battery, fender, fuse block, engine block, starter solenoid STUD terminal (aside from the spade terminal). All- absolutely all - connections must have bare, shiny metal tightly contacting bare, shiny metal.
3) Search "clicknocrank", and this: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...l#post52368224
