Idle Down when dipstick is pulled

Has anyone heard of the idle going down when the dipstick is pulled out? I just changed the oil and plugs . and went to check the oil and it idled down.Seems weird and if anyone knows why or if its bad or not bad please let me know..

pulling the dip stick creates a vacuum leak and your suppose to check the engine oil with the engine off.

yah just never heard the engine idle down while doing that.... or never paied attention

Yep pretty normal to see a change in idle with a vacuum leak like that.

And check the oil when it's all down in the sump, not circulating throughout the engine

Oh and btw, not all engines will see a change in idle because of the dipstick or oil cap being removed

Yes, but the proper time to check your engine oil is about 15-20 mins after running it at normal temp. With the engine off

I noticed this yesterday too. I'm taking this to be a sign that my engine is tight?

I think that's true on older Chevy engines, no personal experience with any others. On those, if it runs rough with the oil cap removed, usually means your rings are bad.

I wondered the same thing when I first got my truck, but it's all good.
