OD light flashing means you have an overdrive issue. I believe its possible to pull a code, but Im not 100% sure.

The OD light flashes when the transmission control unit has a stored code. These codes are only for electrical problems. You can have a mechanical failure by a solenoid and there will be no code, but if something electrically happens to the solenoid, you have a code. These are the codes for an '86. To pull the codes on a 86, there is a small square plug behind the afm that you ground. I don't know if the codes are the same for a 94 or how to pull them.

To pull the codes on the transmission you use the same method as you would to pull the engine codes. Should be, anyway, if your truck has the little grey style diagnostic port. For that year, I'm assuming you would. TE1 and E1 terminals with the O/D switch on OFF position.

thanks a lot guys I tried to pull the codes by jumping the diagnostic port and got nothing. I just had the tranny serviced would this have anything to do with it? pulled the efi fuse and reset but it came back.

Also I am having trouble getting moving when the truck is cold the motor is fine but i have to rev like crazy before it starts to move forward or backward. once its hot its fine is this the flex plate issue ive heard of?

You got nothing? Was O/D light lit up (OFF position) when you jumped the terminals? And, what do you mean by nothing?

ok so out of curiosity I crawled under the truck and started following the wires and sure enough the speed sensor is unplugged. no more codes! I guess #2 speed sensor and the 1&3 solenoids are on the same circuit somehow? oh well lets see if this stops the slipping as well. I think it should thanks again all
