Firewall Grommet

I have a 93 extend cab P/U 4x4 3vze. I need to find a firewall grommet to pull wires through. I have already filled to the max the opening to the left (engine side) of the brake cylinder/booster. Preferably a grommet located on the passenger side. I plan on pulling 8 gauge wire.

Locally we have a store called Ace Hardware. They have shelves and drawers full of misc connectors, nuts, bolts, gadgets.

Maybe you have a similiar store in your area and can sift through to find something close.

I usually have good luck... even if the part I find is labeled for furniture or a computer or something. Imagination is your friend.

???

I think he's looking for a hole in the firewall. There should be one somewhere on the passengers side. Otherwise you can just drill one, and get a little grommet plug to plug it with.

Best bet is just to pull the carpet as stated above, and go searching.

my '02 4R has a large one on the passenger side. I haven't checked my '93 4R, though.

The ECU wires go through the firewall on the passenger side.

Oh, I see I misread what he was looking for. I thought he was having trouble finding a grommet for a hole he already made. Guess the local hardware store isn't going to help with the penetration of your firewall.

I'd just make a new hole if nothing can easily be found.

One trick I found that works well is taking a disposable pen and puncturing a existing seal. Once poked through, pull out the ink cartridge from the inside and you'll be left with a nice tube to pull wire. Once the wire is through, remove the tube and the grommet will generally seal pretty well around the wire if your rubber is in good shape.

I used one on the passenger side behind the charcoal canister in my '94. Pulled 8 gauge power wire for amps.
