Yep! Just pay attention to what you're doing and don't damage the cap mating surface or anything. I had the same problem when I did my rebuild. It will come off....you just have to apply some definite force.

Sorry guys. I've been really busy. Just NOT working on my truck. Spent my money on a motorcycle tire/helmet and now I'm stuck w/o a job. I've been looking all over and I can't find one. I DON'T want to work at any fast food place...and I'm open to everywhere else. I've been putting in applications but they won't call back and when I call they give a ty reply. A lot of places only hire at 18...which is in 3 months or so. I can hold off riding my motorcycle till then.
Although I DID make a vid...http://youtube.com/watch?v=i1etwGHbpa8
Thanks for all your help. This engine hasn't got the best of me yet. Although I've been thinking of selling my dirt bike and buying a brand new engine. But then again I would kinda like to rebuild it myself

NEVER again...if it doesn't come off...I don't need a tool...lol.
No, I'm not going to gasket match it. I am just going to put it back together. Today my brother floored his truck through all gears ('94, 4x4, 22re) and wow...mine is much faster...lol. So its going to be put back together stock! His truck is having problems though. It randomly blows 15amp EFI fuses.
I'm going camping today and I'll be back on Sunday...so when I get back I'll start putting it back together. Although I need to still buy an intake.

Thanks!
Anyway. I'm thinking maybe I should take the block to the machine shop. What do you think? I'm thinking it needs to be bored to get rid of those grooves. I received my rebuild kit on thursday. I haven't opened it cuz I'm thinking that I will need to take it back...since I ordered everything standard.

well, you can take the block to a machine shop and ask their opinion. it looks like maybe just a hone will be fine. if it does need bored, they can tell you what oversize you need, if any.

Okay thanks! I need to take the block out anyway. So a trip to a machine shop will be easy.
