lol...yeah, I'm taking a bunch of scrap in this weekend...so I'm thinking about buying a rebuild kit and slapping it on in the next week or so! I'll probably just buy a rering kit from engnbldr. And get new timing chain and guides. The only thing I'm worried about is the idiot who put it back together last time. I put bolts in the wrong spot and I'm missing a couple in the back...I'm an idiot!!!

but it's not your fault. it's the last idiot that caused the problem.
drop the crossmember between the control arms and the sway bar and the oil pan will come out...

sheesh... you were a few bolts away from being able to drop your oil pan and you pussed out on it and look where it got you. now, how much more trouble is it going to cause to get the head checked for warpage just this one more time?

LOL...yeah I know

Can't I just check it for warpage myself? With a straight edge?

Its all good man! I'm not worried about it...lol.

I'm not looking to get power out of my motor. I just want a running/reliable truck. Its really easy to put a new cam in later if I want to...so it doesn't have to be right when I take the engine apart...lol.

As much as I wish I had extra money to throw into this engine...I really don't...and I don't want to be spending it on this truck.

I'll swap my head and intake and I'll be rolling dirty again

It still runs! $150! 80k miles!!! Is this too good to be true?

But d@mn I'm excited...I'm going to look at it tomorrow

O.K, I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to this stuff. But I would still have to buy a rebuild for it...I'm assuming it doesn't have the rings or anything. I'll have to ask him though. If it JUST needs to be put together it MIGHT be worth it. I've NEVER put an engine together of this size in my life...and I have a general idea of everything. I know what it looks like and all. But I'm not sure how I can tell if the block is good or bad. Do you know what I mean? Like how can I tell that it isn't going to knock when I put it together?...lol

Thanks!!!

Okay catnip bandits...here is whats going on.

Looked at that engine today and it ran okay. It didn't knock or make any funny noises. But it needs a rear main seal...which isn't hard to do at all. I'm still not sure if I could just rebuild mine.

I've sort of priced out four options:

1) Buy that engine above and put it in my truck
-$20 intake
-$150 engine
-$90 gaskets
-$56 timing set
-$101 cap/rotor/oil/plugs/water pump/rear main seal/belt

**Total** = $407

2) Buy the block above and put it in my truck
-$20 intake
-$242 rebuild kit
-$75 block

**Total** = $337

3)Try to fix the problem
-$20 intake
-$10 gaskets

**Total** $30...and lets HOPE that fixed the problem

4)Rebuild mine the RIGHT way!!!
-$242 rebuild kit/shipping
-$20 intake
-??? Machine work...

**Total** = $262...plus machine work...

So, how much would machine work cost? I would have to have it bored...how much does that usually run? I'm not sure that it would need anything else until I take it to the machine shop.

Which options would you go with???

Here's today's progress...

Admittedly, I'm way behind on this thread. I'll have to get back with you tomorrow on any valid comments. I've reached the day's end on internet foolery.

Goodnight, gentlemen.
