lol...yeah, I'm taking a bunch of scrap in this weekend...so I'm thinking about buying a rebuild kit and slapping it on in the next week or so! I'll probably just buy a rering kit from engnbldr. And get new timing chain and guides. The only thing I'm worried about is the idiot who put it back together last time. I put bolts in the wrong spot and I'm missing a couple in the back

NEVER NEVER NEVER do that!!! So stupid. I think I might just buy a new one. $20 for one!!! I can ride my motorcycle to get it so maybe $30 total
I'm DEFINITELY GOING to do the WHOLE job...and not PUSS out. Do you think I need to resurface the head again? Or anything of that sort?

Nope, buts its my fault for using a crow bar on the intake

Can't I just check it for warpage myself? With a straight edge?

I'm not looking to get power out of my motor. I just want a running/reliable truck. Its really easy to put a new cam in later if I want to...so it doesn't have to be right when I take the engine apart...lol.
As much as I wish I had extra money to throw into this engine...I really don't...and I don't want to be spending it on this truck.

Woot woot!!!
I feel like I just won the lottery...I came upon this sweet deal tonight!...
http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/pts/710432547.html
I'll swap my head and intake and I'll be rolling dirty again
It still runs! $150! 80k miles!!! Is this too good to be true?
But d@mn I'm excited...I'm going to look at it tomorrow
Any suggestions?

Okay catnip bandits...here is whats going on.
Looked at that engine today and it ran okay. It didn't knock or make any funny noises. But it needs a rear main seal...which isn't hard to do at all. I'm still not sure if I could just rebuild mine.
I've sort of priced out four options:
1) Buy that engine above and put it in my truck
-$20 intake
-$150 engine
-$90 gaskets
-$56 timing set
-$101 cap/rotor/oil/plugs/water pump/rear main seal/belt
**Total** = $407
2) Buy the block above and put it in my truck
-$20 intake
-$242 rebuild kit
-$75 block
**Total** = $337
3)Try to fix the problem
-$20 intake
-$10 gaskets
**Total** $30...and lets HOPE that fixed the problem
4)Rebuild mine the RIGHT way!!!
-$242 rebuild kit/shipping
-$20 intake
-??? Machine work...
**Total** = $262...plus machine work...
So, how much would machine work cost? I would have to have it bored...how much does that usually run? I'm not sure that it would need anything else until I take it to the machine shop.
Which options would you go with???
Here's today's progress...

Admittedly, I'm way behind on this thread. I'll have to get back with you tomorrow on any valid comments. I've reached the day's end on internet foolery.
Goodnight, gentlemen.
