Diff/Tranny Drain Plug Size?

Diff/Tranny Drain Plug Size?
It's not the allen head type, it's the big bolt type. A 15/16th fits on there pretty snugly, but it may just be because of all the caked on dirt. Most everything else is metric, which is why I don't know if 15/16th is the one.
Can anyone confirm the size of the differential drain/fill plug sizes for me? I don't have metric sockets that big. Tranny and transfer if you got them as well.

What vehicle? If its a 95.5-2004 Tacoma or a 96-02 4Runner its gonna be a 24mm for both drain/fill plugs for BOTH Transmission (manual) and transfer case. I'm not positive on the Tacoma b/c I dont have one, But for a 4Runner I'm positive. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Drain plug
Your giving out bad info. Toyotas are a metric design. DO NOT USE A 15/16 American standard wrench on your trans and trans case filler drain plugs. They are 24mm. Go purchase the correct tools.

Can you use the crush washers made for oil changes with the drain plugs or need to get a different washer?
edit: I guess not. I've never done this. 10 for $11.90

You take a worn plug with a 15/16" socket that is of cheaper quality now you have a drain plug with the corners rounded off.
This seems to happen all to often.
I just use a 24mm 6 point socket.
If you can stretch the oil plug gaskets to fit I guess you can use them.

FWIW I checked the rear end on my '95 yesterday. The fill plug was 23mm(?). The drain was 24mm. Maybe my fill plug size changed a little due to rust? I dunno.
Anyway I wasn't breaking it loose with a breaker bar by hand, so I put a jack under the end of the breaker bar and lifted. Right away I heard the plug break loose - and then it came right out.

I hate it when people give me a 12 point to use on anything. I hate to use them unless it's absolutely necessary. I actually took what I had collected over the years that I got with kits/packs and stuffed them in the bottom of my tool box that I call the junk drawer.
