But where the inner cv meets the front diff housing there is like about a 1.5 inch gap and i can see the shaft that goes into the diff. and its leaking fluid. I can grab the axle and move it back and forth mabey a half inch. it looks kinda jacked up but thanks for help guys

i did hit a hole doin like 15 mph in 4-lo. the hole was hidden by the grass. i hadnt been back where i was at in a while and i didnt see that friggin hole. but it threw me all over the place, and yeah that was a hell of a bang when my head wacked the roof. so im asuming that when it happened. now that im thinkin about it there was a wierd squeal for a minute rite after that. at the time i thought it was a pebble between the pad and rotor or somethin cause it stopped kinda quick. but that kinda sux

isn't the inner CV held in the diff case by a snap ring?

Yeah, one puny snap ring.

I almost broke one today, by the famous "two wheels in a deep rut two wheels spinning and then they came back down" method. I hit the brakes though as the front tire fell, so it slowed down quite a bit. Lucky I didn't get stuck too.

today i pulled of my skimpy skid plate and got a better look at my cv problem. i can grab the inner joint and pull it towards the wheel almost enough for the shaft to come out of the diff. i know thats not sposed to happen. also i can spin the axle with out the drive shaft turning. did i destroy my diff or is it just the cv?

it's possible the diff is broken.
if you slide the cv all the way in and turn it, does the drive shaft or other wheel spin?
also, if you want me to host the pics, I can. pm me and I can give you my email address and I'll put them on my server then give you the code necessary to display the pics here.
