Well Ive been lookin for a first gen 4runner for quite some time, and I finally found one i liked with no frame rust and a freshly rebuilt 22re. the ONLY thing wrong with this truck is that the farthest back pulley on the harmonic balancer is crooked.

Does anyone know how it got how it is ans what I need to do to fix it? Thanks!

 

WOW!! I got no idea how that could happen, but it dont look good! I'd pull them off to make sure the pulley's are the problem, and not the crank. Id say, at the very least... ur gonna need some new pulley's

 

Well the other 2 pulleys are fine. It's just that 1 pully. How Hard is it to replace the pulleys?

 

That front pulley for the power steering unbolts with 4 bolts, the two rear pulleys are supposed to be one and bolt to the crank with 1 bolt. It looks like the pulley just cracked and seperated, does it make any belt squeeling noise or have any overheating issues? I wouldn't drive it far as that belt is turning your water pump.

 

Using your mouse, move it to the top of the page and click on the "Search" button. Type in the box "22re remove crank pulley" and start reading. this topic has been covered hundreds of times.

 

I did research how to get it off. But I just wanted to know how hard it was once I got that stubborn crank nut off. Like does a just slide off and then I put the new one on and tighten down the crank nut?

 

Should just slide right off.

 

might just bring tools and the part when i go to pick the truck up then haha

 

You might need a harmonic balancer puller.
You can sometimes borrow or rent them from some parts places.
They are cheap at Harbour Freight.

 

Well the engine was just put back together 500 miles ago so maybe it wont be too bad

 

Around here autozone and orielly rent the tool to pull the balancer off. Even harbor freight has them cheap to buy. You are better off bringing it new in the package and returning it, then starting the work and getting F'd and unable to finish it. 6 point socket, large breaker bar on the frame.

 

i have a bigass breaker bar, and i tried the starter bump method with no success. I even put a pipe on it to make the bar nearly 4 feet long, and yanked like hell with no success. this damn thing is on there good

 

Over tightening of that belt can lead to that.

 

Well I knew my battery was on the weak side, so I got my buddy to come over and with jumper cables it came right off

 

Im putting the belts back on now, and when I tighten up the two tensioners, does anyone know if there's a torque spec on the jam bolts? Or do you just give the wrench a good tug. I just gave em a good tug, and now my engine is struggling at idle. Thinking maybe I tightened them too much and now they're draggin
