It also works for the 3.0 and the 3.4, but again, you can't use that method to torque it back up, so in my mind, I don't understand why somebody would bother doing it that way.

Does any one know how to remove a Crank pulley bolt that has lost its threads and turning and would not come out? please help

 

Dang, that sounds like a nightmare. So its turning but won't back out? Have you tried prying with a big screwdriver while turning lefty loosey?

 

another trick is one i used to get a stuck lug nut loose once. it might work for the crank bolt too. put on the breaker bar/ratchet with the bar off to the right, put a jack underneath the bar. lift the jack. the bar goes up with the jack, forcing the bolt counter-clockwise with a lot more force than your bicep could give. you're gonna have to have it in gear with someone stomping on the brakes for this. i can take a picture of you don't follow what i'm saying.

Are you sure the crank is not turning and the bolt is? I don't think ayoung101 was even answering your question, your problem doesn't seem to fit his suggestion.

 

maybe i misunderstood your problem, but i took it to mean that you just can't get the crank pulley bolt broken loose so you can remove your pulley. the method i described was not for a crank pulley bolt, but it MIGHT work. i mean, a stuck bolt/nut is a stuck bolt/nut. so this is what i did one time with a stuck lug nut. i just used the power of a hydraulic jack to force the bolt/nut to turn instead of using muscle power. in the case of a crank pulley bolt, on any engine where the crankshaft isn't locked up, doing this will easily turn over the entire engine before loosening the bolt. which is why i said to put the trans into 5th gear (assuming stick shift) and have someone hold the brake pedal so nothing can turn except the bolt. good luck. if you have any other questions, PM me, cuz i might not see that you asked otherwise.
