Cheap muffler

I need to have a custom exhaust made, I moved the gas tank and shortened the wheelbase. Vechical is a 90 extra-cab v6, I was hopeing for something close to factory sound.I wouldn't mind a little more tone, but it had a cherry bomb before and I hated it.

Been looking at what summit has, Dynomax Thrush, Force Pro-Series Mufflers, and Summit Fully Welded Mufflers.
Anyone run these with a 3.0? thoughts?

thanks
mike

I have a dynomax with a highflow cat on my 3.0 4runner. Pretty mellow sound and I liked the performance gain but I really haven't tried any of the others to compare it with. It's held up well to salt and I think it's on the cheaper end of the options.

cheers

Thanks for the quick response. From searching seems like alot of the aftermarket stuff is the same. I'm looking for the most conservitive out of the bunch. I heard borla is probably the closest to stock, but its almost $100

the dynomax is still louder than stock. Why don't you get a stock exhaust and cut the pipes doen to fit? How much did you shorten the wheelbase? I assume there is no box in it now - you could do stacks

You may be able to get a factory muffler from the dealer. Dunno if it would fit, now, or how much it would cost, but the sound should be correct.

I was thinking of that. The PO moved the rear axle backwards, its kind of hard to give an exact number as to how far forward. My current wheelbase is 117.5 with the front moved forward 1.5 inches.

Box? no bed it has a flatbed now. Not really into the stacks, plus I have a truck box right behind my cab.

Does anybody know what the stock wheelbase is??

I know on the runner a factory muffler replacement comes with everything from the cat back. I would imagine this would be the same as the truck.

You can easily cut 6.5" out of the stock exhaust at any location. There is enough stright pipe in it to do it before & after the muffler
