Charge Light Relay Conspiracy

Ok, maybe I didn't explain it correctly Visit my thread
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f131...arness-306545/
I have a 84 4wd pickup I just used this other thread because it talked about the charge lamp relay, maybe I shouldn't have, it seems I threw you guys off.
Anyway I am supposed to have a charge lamp relay, my fuse block has the space for it (see pic in other thread) and there are wires in the bottom of it so I know I need it. My charge light never worked along with a host of other problems that the PO did. Some of the other wiring problems are no backup light and 4wd harness from under the dash to both of those switches.
Please go back and read my other thread, then it might become more clear
Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Hump!
As mentioned above, I do not see a charge light relay on my 1986 either. Your photos doe not show the other parts for reference, but looks like the socket labeled as "Charge Relay" in your photo is same as the one to the right of my EFI relay below. It is also empty. Schematic does not show a relay in charge light circuit, either
Perhaps the electrical circuit was revised but Toyota kept on using the plastic or mold without changing it to save on cost.
The charge light is not critical. Charging system will work even with that light disconnected. When you get your harness all hooked up and ready to fire up, we can verify IF it really is needed; when you turn switch to IGN ON, charge light and engine check light should come on. Both will go out when engine runs normally and charging system works.
FUSE BLOCK ON 1986 MOREFUNNER: Socket next to EFI relay is empty.
SCHEMATIC: NO Charge Light relay

There looks to be actual terminals, not just the molded plastic, in the "Charge Lamp Relay" Location on Hump's Fuse Block. That would indicate that there is likely wires attached to those terminals.
I would follow those wires and see where they end up.
Since Hump's engine is a 22R, there is no EFI relay or check engine light.

Is the relay possibly in the alt regulator? Just drawn in a dumb way?
If you put 12v on the correct wire, the light still stays on?

I probably should have remembered you have an earlier model year, or noticed the round headlights in your profile/avatar pic!
Yes you can search for that part number, the first page of my Google results turned up an old eBay item which then links to two active ones. That is an expensive relay at about $110 shipped from Queensland..
Sadly most vehicles this old aren't readily available in my local scrap yards, but this part was in several early Toyotas apparently (Corolla, and cruiser hits in that first Google result page)
If you can not find one locally try Yotajim or Yotayard and see what kind of price they are asking. As a last resort a generic relay and be wired in with jumper wires to match the plug layout.

All it does is:
1) When there is charge fault, "L" output goes low or close to zero Volt. This pulls negative side relay coil to ground or close to zero volt.
2) Coil energizes
3) Contacts close.
4) Negative side of charge warning light (Y-B wire) connects to ground (W-B wire).
Putting a diode between pins that connect to Y-B and Y wires would do same.
That's mentioned in post on Marlin Crawler site.
No need for relay because it is such a low-draw circuit.
Could be. In fact, looking at the alternator regulator in the shadow, you'd see "L" as the common contact pin of relay integral to regulator.

Charge light & Oil light came on same time.. Alternator tested good on bench..
88 4Runner.. "Charge" & "A.T.Oil Temp" lights came on at same time.. I took out Alternator and tested at Orileys.. It "Passed".. Re-installed it and same issue.. Not charging. (I pulled the Neg lead off batt while running & engine dies) I'm getting Zero voltage on the 7.5 "Charge Fuse" under the hood. My "Brake" light has been on for a year lol, so I can't tell if it was just triggered as well. Any help would be much appreciated..

Pls see my thread "How charging system works"
"charge lfuse does not ENABLE the alternator. It is a misnomer.
Engine fuse ENABLES the alt via IG wire.
