busted nut

well actually its a busted bolt on my 22-re's water pump. The short one just left of the fan attachment on the water pump in the middle of the pump broke off and I couldnt get it out. I finally took a tap and dye to it and got the hole cleaned out again, but it's giving me problems when trying to thread it. I was wondering how important is it for that one bolt to be in the center of the pump, it's not the long one that goes through the timing cover just into it, any input is appreciated, thank you
