Another master cylinder related question. As far as I know brake fluid level sensors were standard equipment on all 1994 pickup models. My appears to be missing, I suspect the previous owners. I found clipped wires on the drivers side and I'm thinking it may be it and I was hoping somebody can confirm.

I was going to simply short them out to see if the brake light went on, but I'm hesitant. I don't want to cause any additional problems.

 

the wiring diagram shows a white with black tracer wire and a gray with white tracer wire.

 

I have no other loose wires in the engine compartment, I don't think they would have yanked it either...

The wires in the picture are white/black and green/white

 

ooops, yeah its a green wire. it says g/b, i thought it was grey, but green it is.

 

Doesn't look like a Toyota Reservoir on the Master Cylinder either.

 

I know that some 95's do not have the sensor wire. I was just working on my brother's 4Runner this past weekend (bone stock, only 90k miles in great shape) and I noticed there is no sensor or float in the brake fluid reservoir and no wires.

The previous owner may have purchased a new reservoir that had wires when none were necessary. Or, they might have yanked the wires if there was a malfunction, say the brake light wouldn't turn off.

My question is... if it doesn't light up, who cares? Unless you're losing brake fluid, which then implies a bigger question of, what is leaking?
