I add 1st gen SR5 chrome heater knobs to my trucks.
I use a standard cab light for 4Runners and Extended Cabs. The 4 Runners and Extended Cabs have a dummy light that holds the mirror mount. I tap into the wiring at the top left corner of the windshield.
I peeled the headliner back a little and slid it in. Then put the trimming back in to hold the liner back in place.
Then where the mirror goes I usd the mirror screws to hold it so I could cut the liner for the recess for the light assembly.
Here it is mounted. I still need to run the wiring. I have always added a standard cab pick up to my 4runners or extended cab trucks as the light that mounts in the center isnt much use for the driver. I run the wire to the top left corner for electrical. I show this in my 88 Runner build.
I got a dome light out of a Standard cab out of a salvage with the same interior color as my wife truck and mounted it in to where your mirror is. I just drilled a small hole to run wires along the windshield to the driverswindshield post and poped off the trim.
There is 2 wires that run along the post that I tapped into and soldered and taped up. Get the plug to the mirror and about 3 feet of the wire out of the donor truck and screw in. Easy and cheap upgrade. The dome ligh on a extended cab and 4Runner is behind you and doesnt light the floorboard up and that is where I am usually trying to find my things.
Front and Rear Dome. Not the best picture, but gives you the idea. Door and On Light work.
Where I tapped into wires.

Nice, I especially like the light, my interior light sucks. I'm finally near a huge pick & pull which has a couple of nice sr5 4runners that I can plunder.

So i found this at the local pick a part it was on a 87 4runner , damn thing was heavy it looks like in the middle theres a winch mount .What yall think??? has anyone seen this bumper before?

this cool thread. Most of junkyards around here wont let you browse which sucks cause sometimes you don't know what you want until you see it.
I have a 94 4runner that is just sitting in my driveway that im gonna steal a whole bunch of stuff from to put on my 85 4runner.
SOooo kind of like cheap junkyard mods.
Ill post as I do them.

Iv got an 88' Runner that i put the second gen center console in " 8 bucks" alot deeper and perfect elbow resting level, front screws match perfect and i just added one extra hole in the rear that matched the 1st gen bracket and glued some pennies over the old holes. the rear window button and coin slot on the front swap right over too

Could you post up pix of it installed. I wanna see how and where the cross over goes. I got mine used and it came with cross over but I don't like how it's routed and wanna see if yours is done better

I will do that when I get them installed. I plan on doing it over Christmas break. To be honest, the crossover looks like it is made from a muffle shop, not the piece that came with the headers. When I saw this set installed on the other truck, Im pretty sure the crossover was tucked close to the transfer case. nicely tucked away too. I will be sure to post pictures when I do it

My 87 2 wheel drive came with the 4 speed transmission. I bought an 83 Celica with the 5 speed transmission and it was a direct bolt in with no modifications needed. I also used some Ford Ranger factory rims on it with no modifications needed on it as well. A couple of two wheel drive junk yard mods I know of.

Not exactly a mod, but a smartphone or mp3 player of certain dimension would pop right in between dash and ashtray.
Here, I have the iPod Touch in rubberized case. Make sure it pops in place not just lay there., else you lose it when you make a sharp turn. Rubberized case helps.
