dub tek, I have reused my gaskets several times without leaks. I always run a large file across the gasket surfaces just to make sure they are flat.

Sometimes there is a tiny lip rolled over the edges that will cause a leak. Especially if someone had to pry the cases apart in the past.

I just had a leak in my new dual setup. It was because I had no vent. My trans shifter has a vent but it did not vent my cases. When everything got up to operating temp I had oil seeping out my shifters.

I ended up drilling a hole and welding a 1/8" NPT bung on my forward shift cover plate so I could run a vent hose up to my engine compartment.

As I was playing the gasket part # game
I was inspecting the vent system and what would pass internal
VS what needs external tubes
Now I know!!!

I have a LARGE vw show at the end of this month
Once thats behind me
Its BUILD TIME

I really wish I could hook up with some NEohio locals that were into the yota thing....
Just having someone with some other parts on the floor
or another built rig to crawl around under would help HUGE

Everything here is BIG3 based Street or trail.......
Im a lone soilder in my yota
Couple of them had a quick taste in the local creek bed last weekend tho
Im IFS and stock as it gets (Less the 31s) with a wasted HG
And I was in spots some of the half assed built jeeps couldnt reach after repeated failures
Along with some rock rolling where there was more then 1 high centerd mall racer in his dads F250 and such... HAHA

Cant wait to drop a locked/lifted/linked/sas w/dualedcased & TDI power on them!...
O' the looks Ill get as I wheel away....

Here's the gaskets you are looking for.

Found this used one and an open package. I'm pretty sure this one is the correct number. I only ordered two different ones and the other is still in the bag.

Thats one of them!!!

Where are you guys buying OE parts from online????

X3 local dealers are totally worthless
A>Dont understand the manufacture designations on the bulkhead placard or frame # info
B>Dont understand how ANY thing actually operates....
C>Dont know how to navigate the electric catalog
D>Dont want to take the time to learn ANYTHING
E>Dont want to deal with it because its "Pre 95' so you should just trade it in"

FED UP with that game
I need a good online dealer with exploaded view parts assemblies!!!

I need a few specific internal parts and would like to find someone who deals with these parts regularly and has the ability to make it happen

toyomotorparts.com still has diagrams for some things. I think you click on more info or something. I don't remember exactly. But sometimes you can get a diagram.

Pirate has great info in their Toyota Bible.

It was worse when coasting or light load and I didn't believe it was my drive shaft causing it. Super bad when slowing down from 80mph on an off ramp. Sounded like a bad bearing in my trans. I tore apart the trans and t-case and found nothing. A lot of work for nothing.
i followed this advice, and got a cv driveshaft for the rear axle... noise is 95% gone! thanks

there is a little free play in the rear output shaft off of the trans, but i'm going to run it and see where it goes.

sourcing a quality **toyota cv** driveshaft is never easy... i used high angle driveline for the front shaft, it's a quality piece, but it took nearly six weeks to get delivered.

so i called up tom woods, and said **toyota cv** about 10 times in the phone call, and still ended up getting a 1310 cv :-/ it has his "gold seal" ujoints, which appears to be a love-hate thing amongst the jeepers, lol

some swear at the "gold seal", other swear by it, and there are links to "gold seal" ujoints being made in china... 1310 is weaker than toyota by all accounts that i've read, so i'm going to carry the old shaft as backup, when doing serious crawling.

good news was that it was nearly $150 cheaper(?) after shipping than the high angle driveline, and it was delivered within four days... bad news was the hassle to install, because with dual cases, the cv was nearly hitting the edge of the cross-frame mount, so i had to grind out the corner of that frame, just above the cv... with the giant trans mount, that's bolted to the frame in eight places, i'm not too worried about any loss of strength or rigidity.

anyway, i hope that this helps someone else with a noisy driveshaft problem.

Im back again.......
haha

The toyomotorparts had my diagrams when I entered my vin

However I dont quite understand the part # association
I need the "C-Clip" on the input shaft of a gear driven transfer case

ISSUE i have is the part # is NOT enough digits
I see the (8403-______)
AND the remaining digits are labeled in a per part basis
BUT i can never generate proper #s to order

IN the pic below I need
#36223A
#36221C

ANYONE have a silver spoon for me??

Just go back to the page where you clicked on "more info" and scroll down the left column to the numbers you listed.

Then follow that line to the right to the part number column.

I don't know your VIN but, I looked up my T-case and it looks like the same diagram and numbers.

36223A looks to be part # 520-30217 $2.98

36221C is part # 520-28242 $2.98

Production dates of 1983 to 1989

OK cool
I have most of this under control now........
BUT of course it has led to more questions!

Lets use the 36221C from the diagram

I see it listed TWICE on the left side
This translates to two different part #s

520-28242
Manufacture notes:T=1.50-1.55,MARK A,T=1.50,MARK A
520-28243
Manufacture notes:T=1.60-1.65,MARK B,T=1.60,MARK B

I see this same scenario for all the "c-clips" on that page........

ANY place that gives me a run down of what these "Manufacture Notes" mean?
Im assuming there measurements of the clips but Id rather NOT guess and I cant find anything on toyomotorparts.
In this case ill probly just order both versions and try to figure it out on my bench
However i foresee this being something I should know how to sort in the future

For that matter
Everyone should know this info and how to generate the PROPER part #s
Even when there are obvious options

AZToy kicking ass AGAIN!!
thanks man

I'm pretty sure it's a dimension for the thickness of the snap ring. I know the snap rings for the trans are varying thickness and you select the tightest fit. I didn't know the T-case was the same.

You can call them with questions. Make sure you look up parts with your VIN or they won't take returns.

Yes
I found a few instances of others with the same question i had
And a few responses and that SAME answer
Its a thickness game

THIS is the info I needed
It allows proper setup and such
my FSM has a TON of setup specs
Pulling X2 cases all the way down, and start from scratch
Gona try and give this thing a go this weekend and get it measured

Just wish my local dealers didnt SUCK
