how's the machining coming? i think i would have gone for the 4.3 swap myself. downey sells an adapter to mate it to the toy tranny. pretty simple set up all in all. you can usually find the motors for fairly cheap since they came in just about everything. that's my two cents, but i give you props for jumping into your project and getting it done.

found a couple links...

downey's website: http://www.downeyoff-road.com/Engine...rsion4Run.html
you can either swap just the motor and adapt to your tranny or swap in a 4.3 or 350 and an auto tranny and use your transfer case.

don't know where you live in florida, but here's a sampling of what i found on craigslist.

Jeez that sucks. I didn't know they made sleeves either. Hopefully it works just fine. .030 over is NOT much at all. That was done to my 22re and its very hard to tell.

Good luck with your build!

ill give you props like none other, its always good to see some one actually be gung ho and get r done with project trucks. granted that the 3.slow is not so good for the skinny pedal addicted humans out there (like my self) but it works.. and thats what matters.. i know my self id love to do a 3.4 swap in my 1st gen runner.... but more then likely it will have to wait till another 22re is toast lol.....one more thing, though you sound like you would like a chev motor, props to you for keepin it 100% toyota

no worries on the links. if you ever need to search craigslist.org in a broader way than the site lets you, crazedlist.org is awesome! its a site that lets you search multiple craigslist towns at one time. very, very cool. keep us posted on the build.

I got my engine in the same night I started putting it back together

Its easy. Only problem I had was coolant leaks, removing pilot bearing, and matching tranny to engine

Good luck!

Update 10/25

Alright another update i dont have much but its something to add! i still dont have my motor back so the machine shop is now a week late. im not sposed ot have it till monday i still also dont have my gaskit kit in i decided not to get a new rod the machine shop said mine was just fine i did get all new barrings tho so that will be added to my list i got the gaskit kit and barrings off ebay for 180$ not bad right? any ways i got a tailgate net and some undercoating pics they dont look to good there really isnt enuf light in the shop im working in so there the best i can do for now. ill keep it updated!

Im not worried about the shocks or spare tire getting painted they are comming off and getting changed.

Kinda shows what it looked like before

this is after the 1st coat i still have to do another i plan do coat all the brake lines to

showing the view outside the shop!!

the new tailgate net it was either this one or a plain one. i had to be differant.

Had to repaint some self tapers to screw down the bed liner

will be another update here in the next few days!! What do yall think so far?

Advance Auto has cheap brake components. I bought a reman caliper for 70 bucks that comes with a lifetime warranty.

nice view!
