90 4runner clutch issues

Hey All,

Im having some issues with my clutch and I just need a little help diagnosing the origin. Currently the gears are extremely difficult to shift between, the clutch pedal is feeling abnormally soft and with the clutch pedal fully depressed it is still starting in gear.

It seems to me that it is likely a slave or master cylinder issue. Any idea how I might go about diagnosing which one and/or could it be a separate issue? Thanks for the help!!

Search! The clutch bracket on the firewall breaks on these trucks. Before buying parts check for leaks. If you find none really take a look the bracket. It starts to flex and not allow the MC piston to be fully engaged.

Good Luck dude

Have you done anything to the clutch recently, as in replacing bearings or pressure plate etc?

Sounds like there might be air in the system. If you haven't done clutch work recently... I don't see how it got there, so it's probable the seals in the master OR slave cylinder are going out.

Unless of course it's the clutch pedal bracket. That could also be it. Have a looksee.

Did the symptom come on suddenly or has it gradually developed over several days?
