to each his own. you might want to look into cutting your coils and getting shorter shocks. pay attention to your rear cv angles lowered like that though im sure they will be fine

lowering springs would be ideal and given the shape of normal coils, how they flatten out at the ends, cutting would give it a different shape, but ive seen that done on many occasions

Sell the runner, get a 2wd and then do what you want. For the price you sell one and buy the other for, you should be able to pay for the lowering with the money left over. plus its a waste of time and usefulness to lower a 4wd. you'll have the option to use it, but never will, yet you pay for it in your insurance payments.
edit: on a side note, if you do lower it, make a web page that is "google-ble". for the life of me, I can't find a photo of a lowered 4runner at all.

That could work^ but I would suggest selling it and buying a 4x2 also. It would be alot easier to lower and let some one else get a 4x4. Maybe some one would trade you. But props for bringing an original idea to the board.

Greg, buddy, c'mon man. It's a Toyota 4x4- what could be better? Atleast do us all a favour. before you destroy the thing by lowering it, take it out on some rocks, or atleast in some mud; and if that's not better than looking at less space in your wheel wells, sell it and get a 2wd...

I could say things like, "worst idea ever."
or, "you're joking, right"
but what I will say is.....
Just sell it and don't put a 4wd vehicle to waste, because that's what you're doing. To each his own, sure, but you're going to spend more money trying to lower you're 4x4 than it would take to go out, sell your vehicle, and buy a 2wd one that's probably newer for the same price.
