'90 4Runner 4wheel drive gasket needs part/info!

Was four wheeling the other day and picked up a steel fence post in the drivers front 4wheel drive and it appears only ripped the gasket closest to the tire. Not sure what this is called but I need a new one so dirt doesn't get it there, also any ideas on what all I have to do to replace this??

Thanks!
Steve

Pics would be good. It sounds to me like you ripped a cv boot.

YOu can get replacement boots.

904 is right. CV boots aren't hard to replace, but they are a PITA, tho.

Outer CV boot is what you need. You can get a kit at AutoZone, etc or the dealer.

Anyone have experience with the Quick- Boot which looks like just slides over. I know that this is not the best but do you think it is good enough for only the 1,000 miles a year that i drive???

Here's a thread on how to change an inner boot: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...v-boot-156096/

Outer boot is not as hard to get at so it should be less of a job.

stock outer boots, IIRC, are like 22 bucks a pair at the stealership... and those come with new clamps too... might need to regrease everything tho...

Does anyone know how I can replace the outer boot without taking apart the inner and the 6 bolts holding it up??? I've got it to the point where the wheel and is off and the cv is hanging there!
