86 4Runner Tire Rubbing Issues
How's it going i'm having a few issues with rubbing in the front of my 86 Runner and was just curious about some of your opinions. I just put some 285/75/16 Xterrains on my 4Runner and the front is pretty tight. I have no lift yet in the front and have not cranked the T-bars. I know for sure that when the wheels are turned the front wheels will rub on the rear part of the fender. For example if the wheels are turned left it will rub the left fender in back of the tire. This only happens when the wheels are stuffed, i.e. if the right rear is up on a big rock and the left front is stuffed. If I crank the T-bars will this cure the problem? I'm pretty sure the BJ spacers will cure it correct? Any other options out there for a quick fix?
Thanks, Pat
Thanks, Pat

I have an "old blue" as well . With 32x11.50x15s mine rubs in the same spot when stuffed. Just not as often now that I have BJ spacers & slight T-bar crank. It's more of an annoyance than anything serious. I'm always moving very slowly when that happens.

cranking the t-bars should fix your rubbing issues. If you have manual hubs you can crank em quite a ways before you have to really worry about CV angle issues too

Thanks for the input, any more ideas would be great.
Zuk-I agree that the offset is a factor as well but I believe the backspacing I have is perfect fit. The 33/10.5/15 is a good size tire but all tire sizes are not the same from manufacturer to manufacturer. My buddy has that size in TAKO's and my 32/11.5/16 are actually taller and wider, so i'm pretty sure if I had his/your setup it wouldn't rub either.
MMA Alex-Yah i'm gonna givee em a good crank about 1.5" and see how that helps.
If anything I may trim the fenders but I think i'll wait to get my BJ Spacers and we'll see how bad the rubbing is once those are on. Am I going to have to realign with the T-bar crank?

even with my 3" wider arms and only 33x10.50 on stock 7's, I rubbed a bit. Trimming was in order fro lack of rub. No more rubbing. Hammer that seam flat or trim it off.

Zuk is right. My wheels don't have as much backspace as the stock wheels. With the stock wheels, with 235/75/15 tires, & BJ spacers, the clearance is pretty tight between the tires and UCA end. With the cheap 15x8 steel wheels that I use for my 32" tires, there is plenty of clearance on the UCA.
