Anyone want to take a guess at what the noise/noises are in this video before i pull the oil pan to check the rod bearings? And yes. It sounds exactly as bad in person as it does in the video.

sounds very much like rod knock. but then again the intermittent knock seems like it has very recently started knocking?
you're going to have a fun time pulling the pan if your rig is 4wd

 

I can't tell much from the video, but you have a lot of high-frequency noise (clicks) that could easily be something else. Did you try a "stethoscope" (I recommend the inside of a roll of paper towels) to try to localize (locate) the sound?

 

I am sorry for jumping into this thread but new to site and wont ˟˟˟˟ing let me sdtart my own anyways complete rebuild on 89 toyota pickup 3.0 now it just idles and when you give it gas it just wants to die fir a second than idles up this truck starts good and idles good just wont rev timing is exactly 12 degrees btdc using timing light tried ten and does the same thing i used the vacum diagram and everything is right new cap and plugs and wires please help

 

Just an update for anyone who may be curious. I pulled the pan on my 1990 v6 4wd runner today, and I found this.



Looks like I found the source of at least some of the noise. I'm still pretty sure something else is causing the higher frequency tapping sound though.
