I unbolted my tranny from the engine all from the bottom. i have done this 3 times, once to remove a bad motor, once to remove a donor motor and once to replace my clutch. The top bolts are a pain but you can get theme one click of the ratchet at a time. Spray everything down with PB blaster as much as you can, you do not want to break one of these bolts!!!

I recommend you get something to wedge under your head or you will have a very sore neck for a few days. Also, your starter is help by 2 bolts the bottom is easy to get from behind but the top bolt is on the other side (engine side of tranny) it can be reached with 2' of extensions from in front of the motor if your AC is out of the way. After that just jack it up with a hoist and wrestle it loose.

Have fun!! And wear goggles so you don't drop a bunch of crap in your eyes.

EDIT: Oops i guess i missed a whole page before i posted. Never mind, looks like you have things under control here.

well there is either standard (stock), .020over, .030 over, .040 over...when you get your block tore down you should be able to tell which pistons you have.

if your motor is 100% stock FOR SURE, then you'll need standard pistons and rings..

if it's been rebuilt...it'd be wise to check and see if there is a stamped number on the pistons...if it was bored i'm pretty sure the pistons will be stamped right?

or you could just measure the bore diameter and check a manual and see what "stock" is..and compare yours to that to see whatchya got!

ok, something come up and I have to hold on to rebuilt the engine so I am just putting the headgasket, however, I was putting the oilpan gasket and tiding the bolts when one broke on me. I guest I tide it too much, so my question is what is my chances of getting a oil leak from there if I dont fix it. I dont want to lose the gasket and all the sealand I put in it.

when doing the oil pan you're not supposed to use a gasket anyway!!!!!

just use the toyota FIPG

and yes it will leak there..take the pan back off an clean the surfaces..get the broken bolt, and then reseal it with FIPG! good luck buddy!

and my rebuild is on the back burner as well...don't have the money..an unexpected hospital bill came up

here's some pics guys

i'm about 99% sure that this truck blew the headgasket, then the previous owner had a top end rebuild..but didn't touch the bottom..then when it ate up the bearings because of the water left in the block, he decided to get rid of it.

the heads and water pump are all 3 BRAND SPANKIN NEW..i wanna just not replace the water pump...but i'm gonna do it right the first time...lol

i'm gonna talk with Southwestern and see if they will just look at the heads, i'm sure the heads are PERFECTLY fine..just need to be cleaned..i'm hoping it will knock off some of the price tag..$900 is cheap, but the less money i drop here, the more i can drop at other places for the rig (like some new tires )

well here's the pics lol
nice clutch huh
passenger side head
driver side head

idk how many miles are on the heads and such, i doubt it's a bunch..

that's my knock sensor wire...it's been cut in half..spliced back together..and the gray plug is completely trashed lol

so a new sensor and pigtail is getting put on the list!
