3VZ no start!?!?

well..got the battery put back in the 4runner this mornin, spun an oil filter on there (cheapo fram..it's only moving like 50yds lmao) topped the oil off (had drained a little out..it was a bout 1qt low..it doesn't leak ANYWHERE )

as soon as i hooked the battery off...the "alarm" started acting up...every 30 seconds or so (guesstimating here) the horn would honk, and the marker lights would flash 3 times, and it would beep 3 times inside he cab....and after about 20 mins..it stopped!? all i did was replace a blowed fuse for the dome light..??

well so i then get in it..stick the key in and turn the ignition on...and it honks once and flashes the marker lights 3 times....i make sure everything works..which it does except for the rear window.. it did when i first got it though..i was trying to give the window power about a month ago when i locked my keys inside , and in the process of doing so..i got a spark when 2 of the wires touched together..(yea dumb me....@#IT happens though....)

well..now i turn the key on..and nothing..EVERYTHING works except for the rear window..yet it won't start..no starter click..no click of any kind..

so the question is..is this a relay that's causing me problems???

all fuses are GOOD, i didnt check the fuses behind the glovebox but i think those are just for the heater, A/C, and rear heater..so they shouldnt have anything to do with the window..or with the not starting problem lol

if anybody has any ideas..let me know!!!! i'd like to get it into the warm shop soon..we're supposed to have a high of 20* tomorrow..

Does it kill all the electronics when you turn the key? Sounds like you don't have the battery grounded. Check the terminals of the battery. Mine did this when I did not have the ground tight enough on the starter bolt.

im not sure if i read it right but your alarm may still be active, preventing you from starting it. put the key to ON and try to disarm the alarm

I agree might be something with the alarm or bad ground somewhere. I the clock dims when you turn the key you have voltage going somewhere.

how would i disarm the alarm??? lol

i'm gonna check my main battery ground in a minute (it's kinda suspicious looking..it was kinda melted when i got it..so i'm gonna temporarily replace it and see what happens)

there is a switch under the dash by he hood latch, and it doesn't matter which way i flip it, it still doesn't start lol.

i'm thinking it has to do with the rear window...maybe a relay being bad somewhere and the alarm won't let me start it because of the bad part...i'm not to sure about that though lol

Look at the steering column and find the plug (blue). If it's like most old skool alarms you can just unplug it temporarily and try that. Be sure that there isn't aill switch or anything you might have missed.

Definately check grounds.

Did you ever fix this problem? I just finished my head gasket and the engine turns over but will not start. I have no spark. Could a ground be off or did i miss a plug somewhere?

hahaha yea..i'm getting a new one put on it sometime later this summer, it's like $375, remote start..and a DANG good alarm..buddy has it on his '06 dodge 1/2 ton....just not sure if they can hook up the remote start since it's a standard...unless i leave it out of gear and use the E-brake to park with.

what got me though, is that i had the door open..battery hooked up, hood up......i shut the door, everything was fine..then i shut the hood..and that damn doors locked!!!!!!!! with my keys inside...
