I was driving on the highway in 5th gear going about 80 when I noticed the tach. was almost pinned. Every time I put my foot on the throttle the engine would rev high and have no power. Barley made it back into town. Any Ideas???

yup assuming it's a manual trans, all you said is 5th gear, safe to assume so, then 99% positive clutch is gone.

 

Usually Clutch Wear/slipping is most noticeable in "High-Gear." Soo... Like these guys said... Clutch time
