3.0 wont start

Last night while driving home my engine shut off like someone flipped a switch but everything else stayed on so I coasted to the shoulder put it in neutral and it fired back up so I drive a few seconds and it does the same thing this time I had to sit a minute till it would start I made it home without it happening again or it acting funny. This morning I try to start it and it won't start I pull the codes and get 14 and 24. I'm getting spark to the plugs and gas to the injectors. I pulled the plugs and there dry I think the injectors are my problems. What could cause the injectors not to work?

What do the codes mean? You said your getting gas to the injectors but then you say the plugs are dry. Are your injectors working or not?

I have gas in the fuel rail but the injectors aren't spraying fuel in the cylinder

Are you getting power to the injectors?

Code 14 is the ignition signal and code 24 is the intake air tempture siginal. I would start by going thru the vafm and make sure its in spec, could definitly be the cause of your problem

what earlycuyler said...

Here go to page EG@ 176 and read what it says about the codes, very helpful. That is most likely the circuit causing your issues. GO to the page referenced in the column to the far right of each code and follow the troubleshooting steps. Let us know what the fix was or if you need any other help.

Would either one of those cause the injectors not to pump?

Yes. If the VAFM is not working correctly then it will not start since it will not activate the COR and not supply any power to the fuel pump.

On the diagnostic port, jump FP and B+ with a paperclip the next time it happens if it starts, your VAFM is going out or there's a short in the wire. Done any "custom" wiring jobs on your intake or ignition?

Igniters are expensive, a multimeter is not. (The HF one will work just fine.)

Check for 12v to ground on B+. Check for continuity to ground on FP (it's through the fuel pump, so you'll get less than 5 ohms).

^^^^ scope103 gives a lot of good advice. If the vafm is not sending a signal to the computer telling it how much air is coming in the computer wont send the sigial to the injectors to supply the gas, which kind of sounds like your problem, i'm not saying it is though. I would get a multimeter and test everything before replacing anything though

Ha for real. I'd tested a few things they all came back good so I was getting frustrated and noticed how brittle my wire harness looked so I got to playing with them and I got it to crank for a few seconds so played a little more and boom it came to life
