22ret block

So I came across someone who is trying to sell a 22ret block from an 86 PU. He wants 500 for the block and claims that it came off a truck with 89k miles.

He states that the engine is complete with wiring harness but has already sold the tranny.

You guys think its a good deal? I told him I'd give him a couple hundred bucks cause the turbo would probably be shot with a cracked manifold and he is unsure if it runs.

Also, I called him about it and he said it was a 2.2 22re. I asked if it came out of a camry or other car and he said it came out of a PU. I told him it was a 2.4 and he said that I was wrong because he works at a junkyard and knows his stuff. He then followed by saying "If it was a 2.4 it would be a 24re."

I just let it go from there but I couldn't help but chuckle
You guys think i'm being too greedy? Ha

Any input is always appreciated like always.

That guy is an idiot and doesn`t know jack, i wouldn`t buy it from him, especially if he doesn`t even know if it runs, and not for 500 bucks.

So I happen to get on craigslist again and I came across another almost complete 22ret

1987 toyota 22ret turbo 4cyl. Has turbo, manifold, downpipe, wireharness, computer, exhaust manifold, and blow off valve. Needs timing chain, timing cover, throttle body, and fuel injectors. Could use freshened up, but ran when pulled.

I'm headed down there tomorrow to pick it up... He wants 200 for it.

I'm probably going to pull the turbo set up off and put a t3/t4 on my truck with the parts from that one and just have the extra motor rebuilt for when I need it. Should be a fun rebuild! I'm STOKED!

Ya I hear those 24ret parts are hard to come by. HaHa

The other motor for $200 sounds like a good deal.

Uh... blow off valve?
If true, sounds like someone was tinkering and blew an engine. That would explain the 200 dollar cost.

Well the guy seemed pretty nice when I spoke with him. He really didn't know much about the engine but he did state that he got it from his friend who replaced his motor and was going to put it in his truck but didn't due to the costs of all the work.

He says he just wants what he put into it.

I'm sure it's in decent shape but we'll have to see tomorrow
