22RTE block taking 6 qts

I've got a 22RTE that's been converted to 22RE. She won't show full on the dipstick unless 6 qts are added after oil change with filter (standard size). Measuring on level ground, dipstick is 23.5". Did the 22RTE blocks hold more oil? I understand that they are a little different than the 22RE block.

Everyones measurements could be a little different so here is a picture of a basic 22re. Mine is 23.5 as well. I dont know the 22rte.

i used to have a 22rte and though i don't know a whole lot about it, know the block itself IS slightly different, so that may be why. Definitely has different internal oil passages to compensate for turbo.
when you converted, did you remove all the turbo's oiling accessories? what about an external oil filter - you have one of those? i know those take up extra oil.
also, just curious - what did you do about the compression difference? did you swap in a 22re head?

I didn't do the swap unfortunately, as I would have kept all of the turbo parts. The head is from. 22R. I had to find all of the EFI parts and harness as PO hacked it. The only thing left from the turbo is some plugs on the cab side and a charcoal tank.

Red face

It could very well be you have the wrong dip stick.

I run 5 quarts in my 22RTEC .

Is it possible you have a custom oil pan ??

What determines the oil level reading is the oil pan or the length of the dip stick

If I remember I will look at the part # of the dip stick.

This is exactly what my dipstick looks like. And it measures 23.5" from top to bottom. It seats properly all the way down. I'm so confused.
