22re turbo motor wont run

22re turbo motor wont run

Ok im looking at a 90's model yota an has a factory turbo set up put on it an will start an die start an die but if you use gas Or starting fluid it will run the guy said he checked everthing an still no luck does it have to have a differnt computer fpr it to run with the turbo

Has it ever run since this engine has been swapped in ??

Then it might be a bunch of parts cobbled together .

Yes you need the ECU and like any other swap the wiring harnesses to merge.

Sounds like you have your work cut out if this was not done.

You will need the EWD of vehicle you have plus the one for the vehicle the engine came from if it was a complete engine.

If you want it to look good if not I am sure given enough time you can build your own harness.

Yep you need the correct ECU. They only offered the turbo in 86 and 87.
wonder if the guy only put the turbo/manifold etc on it.
I would continue to look elsewhere..

You would need the one for the 22rtec engine is it Auto or manual ??

As these engines are pretty rare it could be interesting.

You might be able to get a bad ECU and have it rebuilt.

That is to easy to make it more worth while and more rewarding one has to visit every yard in person .

Within 500 miles of where you live.

Only then can your search for a ECU be complete.
